my question is more behavioural than about health. As you'll see (all over the boards) I have 5 cats. 2 of them are kittens and will be moving to new homes over the summer. One of the kittens--the one who we'll be keeping--occasionally pulls poop from the litter box to play with it. any thoughts on why he does this or how I can make him stop?

Hey, cool. Welcome to CGR. Good to have you.

One of our [five] cats has a strange problem (or so it seems) with one of his eyes. He often holds it half-closed (as if he's squinting, not as if his eyelid is drooping or anything), and he tends to blink with it more often than seems normal. Sometimes, it also seems as though he doesn't have very good peripheral vision at all (I don't know if this is typical of cats or not). For example, if you walk up beside him when he's not expecting you, he'll often freak out and go racing away as soon as you get in front of him enough for him to see you; it's almost as if he doesn't see you until you're right in front of his face, so he gets startled because he didn't see you coming. Could something be wrong with his eyes? If so, would it be something our local vet could treat [inexpensively; not rolling in the dough here, unfortunately] or is there not much that we could do?

Thanks for any insight you can share.

In His love,
Nate

i dont know exactly why is he doing that. im sure it will be a long discussion if i will ask evrything about the environment of your cats, for me to find out the reason. Hope it will help, when you transfer them to your new house, co'z your cat will shift its attention to its new environment. You can stop them by doing that thru changing the litter box everytime they passed their poooh ( i dont know if its practical for you). You also need to discipline them on the moment you see it playing their litter.

Nate,
I think you need to see a vet opthalmologist, it might need a surgery to correct its vision specially if its freaking out.

Thats not normal, but not all who throw up needs medical attention. Pets throw up if they have upset stomach, ate something that not should be eaten and many more reason. Most of the fat cat are diabetic. If its a geriatric, better consult your vet.
