| First, a non-spoiler comment:
Is it just me, or was the guy playing the Vice President/President trying way too hard to channel Christopher Walken?
And now, SPOILERS!!!1! I have mixed feelings about the finale. On one hand, I almost wish they'd actually decided to kill off Jack and bring in a new frontman for season five. If they don't do something huge to freshen things up real quick, the series is going to fizzle out in a hurry. On the other hand, though, the way they handled things leaves some optimism that maybe they will cut Jack out of the picture for next season...but I really doubt it, especially the way they teased it at the end. Meh.
I do also think that the ending to the nuclear missile threat was ridiculously anticlimactic and fairly boring. Really poor writing there.
The Chinese subplot.... Hmm. On one hand, it seemed more like a distraction from the main plot than anything else, and a convenient way to make the ending all emotional and crap via Jack's dramatic exit. On the other hand, I kind of like it just for the fact that it demonstrates some sense of realism in that CTU's wrecklessness doesn't come without its consequences. At least they're not pulling insane crap like performing a kidnapping on Chinese soil and getting away with it completely clean-handed. |
