To me, manual is fun in comparison to automatic. Automatics are no good.
It seems like you guys are all defining fun as tail-whipping around turns, peeling out and going fast... but is that what he's lookin' for or is his definition of fun different?

Peeling out is only fun for a short time. Just like a car capable of .85 lateral g's, or 17 second 1/4 times.
Real fun is found in a sports car. Sports cars are easily identifiable. Any car that is not classified as a "sports car" but assumes the handling, acceleration and braking characteristics of one will indeed be fun. Simple.
For instance: buy a Datsun 510. Bolt on TT 300ZX rotors and calipers. Buy the motor mounts for a Mazda 20B. Bolt on JIC coils. *poof* You have fun.
