Unhappy ghoti hook falling apart at the seems

I have read a number of music reviews for the band from respected magazines that say at a live show the band did not look into it. Maybe its because that theyre not a s good as they used to be cause the old members ruled. I stopped listening to Ghoti Hook after Banana man and i stick by it i totally do not like what they have become although I do like the meaning to Lullaby but i still think Seasons is better

Hahahaha.

I wonder if any of these people or anyone of you have seen them recently.

They are better and more committed now than they have ever been. Have any of you listened to Two Years To Never? It's pure rock genius. I don't understand how others cannot like the progression this band has made. So maybe they don't write songs like "My Bike" anymore. It's called maturity.

And there live show as a three piece is as good as it has ever been.

Im all for maturity but they should change the name as they changed the sound that great. Thats like Mxpx Turning into Plankeye you just cant be the same band anymore really. GHOTI HOOK even sounds like a punk name.

I fail to follow that logic. Because a band progresses and matures they must in turn change their name. That doesn't make any sense to me. Why do you say that?

Ghoti Hook was one of the defining punk bands back in the day. Now new kids to the scene wanna hear the rage about Ghoti Hook and they pick up Two Years To Never ???? That was not made by the Christian Punk legends. So a namechange would avoid this problem.

What would be bad about someone buying Two Years To Never as the first album? Just because they aren't "christian punk" enough for you now doesn't mean they should change their name and it certainly doesn't cause and "problems". Do you know how many bands would have to change their name with every change of sound or progression they made? How in the world would you keep track of them. Insanity.

okay. let's think about this.

dc talk should change their name. they are no longer a rap group. in fact, they should have changed it just before Jesus Freak and before Supernatural.

newsboys should have changed their name before Not Ashamed, and again before Step Up To The Microphone.

audio adrenaline should have changed their name after their self-titled release, and again after bloOm.

mxpx should have changed their name after Teenage Politics.

five iron frenzy should have changed their name after every album they put out except the live one.

do you see whats going on here? it makes no sense. if someone really wants to hear about ghoti hook, they'll ask someone for help. they wont just 'pick something up.' if they dont, they're being stupid.

and imagine if every band changed their name after every stylistic change. the music industry would be in shambles, because it'd be impossible to follow artists.
to say a band should change their name because they've matured or because you don't like them anymore is a ludicrous idea.

so, um... yeah.

2 years to never was a pretty good CD, i liked super sumo a lot better though, another good reason to change the name would be that original members left the band and that really changed the sound. however as for hotdogboy, ur logic is pretty twisted, FIF has never changed their pure ska n rock combo sound. true over the years they have also lost some members but they have gained excellent replacements. DCTalk is no longer a rap group also, yet i dont think they can even be called a group anymore, i saw Toby Mac at Creation and he redid some DCTalk songs, it was the worst thing i have ever heard. newsboys have no musical writing skills left, neither does Audio Adrenaline. there are a lot of bands who need to retire and make way for up and comming bands. and as for MXPX they r a punk rock band!!!! they play punk rock, they have always played punk rock!!!! they have never changed and they never will

Ghoti Hook: Past and Present

Ghoti Hook gone soft? HA! HARDLY! Sure I agree that sumo surprise was a great album, and their cover songs were just as good. But you know what? When TYTN came out 3 years after banana man, I'd be dissapointed if the sounded just the same. I mean, they've got less members, and it's a 3 year expanse. You can't play the same stuff forever.

So Ghoti Hook is no longer "punk" (were they ever really?). However, they have evolved into (in my opinion) the greatest christian rock group. I picked up their new (and final) EP from Violet Blue Music a few months back, and it blew me away! It had the same rock feel of TYTN, but something was different. Try picturing songs in the make of "Mach 3" and "Chevy Nova", adding a bajillion guitar effects and twice the agression! 6 songs of pure rock and roll genius! If you haven't heard it, get it! Go to www.violetbluemusic.com and download their song "drop dead", and you'll see what I mean. Forget that new-fangled rehash "retrospective" cd, this EP is the final new rock from Ghoti Hook. www.violetbluemusic.com

Oh, and I have seen Ghoti Hook on their final tour. Joel certainly puts his heart into his singing and his guitar. Also, their drummer played so hard I literally thought he was going to have a heart attack after playing a 10 minute version of the pixie's cover, "Where is my mind?". Oh, and if you would have seen their final show at Cornerstone 2002 (while they were dressed up as skeletons), you would have crapped your pants.

RIP
GHOTI HOOK

Yep. I was at their last concert ever at Cornerstone music festival last summer. That was awesome...they were all playing their hearts out. Not to mention they were wearing skeleton costumes and there were posters up on either side of the stage that said "RIP Ghoti Hook" It was an incredible show.
