Melinda and Melinda

I finally got out to see this on Friday night and must say it is one of the best films I've seen in a long while.

The film begins with two screenwriters over dinner discussing whether tragedies or comedies are the best representation of life. A friend with them tells them a story and asks them to tell him if it is a drama or a comedy.

The film is broken up into two parts: the tragic story, and the comic story. The comic hero is played by no other than Will Ferrell in a role that I would dare say is the best he has ever done.

Anyone else checked this out?

I wanna see this film. Funds are low right now, so I'll have to decide which one to see first, Palindromes or this one. I'll probably see Melinda & Melinda since it's in limited release, and Palindromes comes out the 29th. It might not be showing next week, who knows. The theaters around here simply suck.

My girlfriend and I saw this on it's opening night in town, and there was another couple, around the age of 65. We were the only ones in the theater.

I would consider it Woody Allen's best since Bullets Over Broadway. Things are finally looking up after his slew of really horrible films.

Haha. I'm sorta used to this. I remember when I went to see Spartan, there was only me and my little sister. And for Dogville I was all there by myself. I guess most people in Miami Beach have better things to do.

I checked the theaters' showtimes here, and they're not showing it. I guess I'll have to wait for the DVD.

Yes. David Mamet is one of my favorite american screenwriters/directors, though his best work so far is his earliest, like House of Games.
