| Christian Music in Asia Is there any (Contemporary) Christian music being made in Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese etc? I don't know of any here in Japan, but if there is some you know about I'd love to hear it.
The alternative is (God willing) making some myself (with my Japanese, Korean and Chinese friend's help)! However, this is not so easy I really think music is such a powerful way to reach people, especially in Asia where other forms of Christian activity are ignored. I really want to do something to spread the Gospel in Japan, China and Korea, and this is the way that I feel would work best for younger people.
If you have any ideas comments, let me know. |

| Don't really know much about the Chrisitan movement in Japan or in China, but I do know that there is a strong Christian movement in Korea (in the South, but as soon as the North opens up it's borders, I shall be there to spread the Gospel).
The Korean churches here in the US (but mostly in CA for me) are really taking their traditional Korean backgrounds and making giant churches here. The good thing is that when Koreans come to the US, there is a great opportunity to make these Koreans feel comfortable in a comfortable background. However the biggest disadvantage of this is these churches are only interested in themselves (I'm speaking of a generalization, not of EVERY Korean church out there, so please do not be offended if your church does not follow my generalization). So the connection between Christ in America and Christ in Asia is a weak bond that needs to be strengthened.
Getting back to the origional question (sorry I digress), most Korean Christians are into the emotional sermons, praying, and praising. By emotional, I mean loud shouting, music that is so tear-jerking that they are pushing to cry out in either "Ju-Yuh" (Jesus or God in Korean) or "Yeh Su Neem" (Jesus in Korean), or sermons that are very passionate that it's almost like listening to a very sad story. These are typical observations that I've seen (and I have over 13 years of experience).
I most definately respect and fully support your AWESOME ministry work you are doing in Asia. You are someone that really are going to find your treasures in Heaven Revolution. If I can be of any service to you, please email me.

| I think I have seen contemporary songs in Mandarin in the market. It's just a matter of where.
In my place, we have places that sells everything Christian, and since it's an asian country, We have Mandarin songs for sale.

| Hi,
Im writing from India,
There is a rich collection of Indian songs in its native languages.
Even in western style, Indian artists have brought out a lot of songs. Some of them are really good in its contents and music.
And also I know in many of the churches we have praise and worship on every sunday. And its lovely to be here. )

| CCM in Korea Hey everyone~
I used to listen to Korean pop music, but I stopped b/c I just got disinterested in it. But I would love to see a lot more Korean cont. gospel music, or Korean CCM. I found this one site, http://www.ccm.co.kr/ that features CCM music, and it's in Korean. So it was a light of hope for me, and it made me so happy! But I noticed that some of our artists, like Jaci Valesquez are featured on there. I don't know how big CCM is in Korea, and if someone could fill me on this, it'd be great.
peace and love~ |

| My church has recently started an English/Mandarin biligual service, and we've introduced some Mandarin songs from CDs by Stream of Praise ministries and Elim in Taiwan. I'm sure there is much more available...
We also sing some English songs which have been translated into Mandarin, like "As the deer", "Love you so much", "Power of Your Love", "Shout to the Lord" etc.

| Hey,
I also want to tell that, a lot of english worship songs were translated in Tamil and Malayalam in India. Most of them are used in church worships here.

| We have translated songs too - some of them are pretty good! Sadly though, they seem to lose a lot of tempo - turns some really energetic English praise songs into a rather downbeat Japanese style. |

| It's surprising, considering that popular Japanese music (in my mind at least) seems to be very energetic. But I really shouldn't be surprised, because the same thing seems to be through for Chinese music. The secular music and christian music seem to be on completely different levels and in different eras!

| Korean CCM Hello!
I'm a Korean and there does exist a pretty strong CCM music scene in Korea. Up to like a few years ago, it was (in my opinion) dominated by Vineyard-like praise teams (like All Nations Music), but the younger Koreans are getting into the American-style CCM. Younger praise teams are more innovative than their predecessors and it reflects on the songs itself.
Although the CCM culture is not as youth-oriented like here in the US, i think it has the ability to appeal. I was startled and amazed that Korean CCM has come this far. I believe wants to reach the Korean youth... since they are so deeply entrenched in the Korean secular stuff.
Oh well... hehe... |

| Anyone aware of any kind of CCM scene in the Philippines? I was born in the states, but both my parents immigrated here from the islands ... at my church, a small Chrisitian fellowship in Southern California, most of the members are of Filipino ancestry (including the pastor, who is a pretty good guitar player), and we sing a lot of CCM. (The church, BTW, is open to ALL. Just want to make sure I don't leave the wrong impression. )

| Ok, so it seems like there is a lot of worship music around. But what about the Sonicflood/Delirious cutting edge type worship music? Or even more "contemporary" styles? |
