Learning from a book?

I took 5 months of lessons a few years ago and hated it, so I'm not to keen on trying that again. It wasn't the teacher she was nice, and good and everything I think it was just me not wanting to take lessons. But, I have a nice keyboard that just sits there, and I really do want to learn to play decently. I know several chords and know the notes on sheet music, but I read music really slowly and would also like to speed my music reading up. Any suggestions on book to teach myself with? Or a dvd or cd?

-thanks

Get some easy guitar charts for praise and worship songs that you are familiar with. You can get a feel for the chord progressions. It takes a lot of practice though.

I'd suggest the Hal Leonard "learn to play rock keyboard" (or somthin like that) books. I have all three and I've learned to solo to pretty much anything from these books. It's good to know most of your chords and such before starting with them but you wouldn't necesarily have to. They also come with CD's so that you can make sure you're playing the music right if you don't read music well(like me).
