No, this particular girl is one I've mentioned before. I'm not going to go into much detail about her or the rest of the details just yet, but, despite the fact that we aren't dating yet and despite the fact that we haven't even gone out yet (though a potential spot has opened up for about a week from now), I'm deeply interested in the prospects of how this whole thing could turn out.
Prayer for the both of us would be appreciated. I really feel that, if she is willing to pursue an actual relationship with me, this could be a very interesting experience for the both of us. I know my pastor's wife, who is actually really close to this girl, says that, after thinking about it, she and I could make for a really good couple, so that gives me some hope.

| Well, that didn't work out like I hoped...

| So, I'm gonna update on my last post...
Apparently, my slow approach wasn't such a good one. The day after I hung out with her, she flew to New Mexico to pick up her new car. By the end of the weekend, she had a brand-new boyfriend that she met there.
Yeah, major bummer. Oh well, there's plenty of other options out there, I guess. Actually, there is another girl who has just started coming to my church. She's a real, legitimate sweetheart and she and I become really friendly with each other. Unfortunately, the situation isn't quite right at the moment, so I'm gonna wait it out for a bit. But, if an opportunity opens up soon, I'm definitely not going to take the really slow approach I tried with the last girl.

| You all need to see Zombieland as soon as possible. It's hands down the best zombie comedy I've seen yet (I really like Shaun of The Dead, but I think this was even better). And Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee will get you laughing like nothing else (except for the cameo appearance, of course).

| So, tell me what you guys think about this...
Two of my biggest guilty pleasure TV shows are Married With Children and Saved By The Bell. I love the former because it was one of the first popular TV shows to be associated with a dark sense of humor and because the characters, however dislikeable they were, were always entertaining to watch. On the other hand, I have loved the latter since I was a kid. It's one of those shows that is just pure nostalgia for me.
Recently, I have been watching them both, and in the case of the latter, I've become hooked on the junior high episodes (I'm starting to prefer them to the other ones because, even though it wasn't perfect, I felt the characters were more likeable, more realistic, and less stereotypical). Watching them both got me thinking.
I've been trying to come up with possible script ideas that could potentially turn into solid work. A while ago, I got an idea while watching MWC. If you look at the careers of three of the four actors that portrayed a member of the Bundy family (namely, Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, and Christina Applegate), all of them have gotten some solid work post MWC. O'Neill has been on several well-written TV shows including The West Wing and is now starring on the new TV show Modern Family. Sagal has done voice-over work on Futurama and is now a star in the critically-acclaimed FX show Sons of Anarchy. Christina Applegate has been in several somewhat decent movies and even got to be the main star in a smart, quirky, and short-lived TV comedy named Samantha Who?. All of them have had fairly successful careers afterwards, but David Faustino, the actor who played Bud Bundy, essentially fell off the map and never really got any good work after the show ended. Which is a shame, because he was quite memorable in his MWC role and had a terrific sense of comedic timing. So, I felt a sudden urge to try to figure out a way and an appropriate story to write half-hour length scripts specifically for TV (the style I decided to try to aim for would be a darkly-comic dramedy) and at the center of the show would be a main character that I would write specifically for Faustino, in the hopes that one day, some way, somehow, I could get the scripts sold to a studio in Hollywood and they could get Faustino involved so he could finally get some work on a good project again.
Now, I recently was watching the junior high days of Saved by The Bell, and after reading up on some trivia, I got an idea that I could add to my original idea. While watching the show, I started paying attention to the young actress that played the role of Nikki, Heather Hopper. After watching several episodes, I found myself impressed by how natural and likeable she was in the role, whether or not what was written for her was of the best quality of not. What really got me thinking was when I read some trivia and I discovered that she was supposed to cross over to the high school version in the place of the role Tiffani Thiessen took as Kelly. Her character was originally supposed to be the one Zack and Slater fought over. And after watching the early shows, I can definitely see that as having been possible as I saw plenty of that kind of tension between her character and the character of Zack. Unfortunately, it didn't work out because, apparently, her parents wanted just as much money as the actor who played Zack would be getting. Therefore, they dropped her from the show.
Watching the show, I definitely feel that a talent had been wasted, as she never again starred in another quality show. Then, recently I saw an episode of Married With Children where she made a brief guest appearance. Almost immediately, an idea started going through my head. What if, in addition to writing a TV show specifically for David Faustino, what if I wrote him as a husband to a wife character that I could write specifically for Hopper? If I could write the scripts well enough and they eventually got to Hollwood and got made with those two actors starring, it'd give them a second chance at being household names all over again.
Any thoughts? Any suggestions on a solid, original story (as a reminder, I'm shooting for a darkly-comic dramedy) that would have plenty of potential to get good ratings that I could include those characters in?

| That sounds like a quite the feat you've set up for yourself David. However, if you can come up with the appropirate idea, then I say go for it. Still, that's a lot of pieces to to put together, as I'm sure you're well aware of. |

However, even if it doesn't come to be, it'd be nice knowing that I achieved a major goal I set for myself by writing it (my ultimate goal would be to write about 10 or so half-hour episodes or a feature-length film, whichever I feel I could accomplish more easily).
Friday, for a field trip for my environmental biology class, I'm going to a lagoon area of the bay next to a local power plant that houses a sizeable population of sea turtles. That should be pretty fun.
My school's dean and governing board sucks. Starting next semester, a total of 25% of the schools and part-time teachers are going to be cut. That's more than any of the other community colleges in the county. Another problem is that a lot of nearby universities are doing the same thing, which means it's going to be a lot more difficult to transfer and get into these universities.
Stupid economy. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

| Oh, without a doubt. If you have a passion and an idea for writing a script like this, then go for it good buddy! I'm sure Faustino would be grateful just to find out that somebody actually remembers him and wants to place him in a starring role in this modern age of ours
Field trip sounds like it should provide a good time. While sea turtles are not the absolute pinnacle of their kind, they still rank up pretty far up there in the turtle kingdom.
Sorry to hear about your college's cuts. The economy is just pathetic right now. |

It should. The thing about it is, in SoCal, you don't usually expect to find a place where the water is the same warmth as you get in more tropical areas (in addition to sea turtles living in this part of the bay, we also have a sizeable population of bonefish as well, which are mostly native to the tropics, especially the Caribbean Sea).
It's really frustrating. Also, it seems as though, based on what I've heard, the governing board and the president are more concerned about pushing their own political agendas than their students' and their educations. It's just not right.
