Didn't know really where to post this, but this is the vocals group and it's me singing...so anyway. Okay, so I was bored earlier and I decided to record something with just me and my guitar. So I recorded a short snippet of the praise song "Breathe" using crappy 'ole Windows Sound Recorder. I recorded the guitar in one file and the vocals in the other and mixed them...very crude, but I was bored and it gave me something to do. So anyway, give a listen and tell me somethin'. Here's a link to the file:

Hey anybody, how would one go about uploading a song from his computer onto the message boards?
I have some stuff i'm writing that i want you to hear, but i don't have a webpage to load it from.

Brent 04-23-2001 04:19 PM

Can't do that GzusPhreek...at least not with this version of the message board. Maybe in the future? It's not hard to get a free webpage, though, if you wanna do that. Just can't use mp3.com unless they're your songs and not covers of other people's stuff.

I got about a minute of it downloaded, i think that was all there was.

I am actually very impressed by that. I am a student of music you might say and there were a few minor things, but that could've come from the poor recording. Otherwise, like I say just keep up the good work.

On some of the words, work on some vowel tones:o Taller vowels will help the people out there understand what you are saying a little better and they will be more open to sing with you. Awesome sound! :D

Brent 04-25-2001 05:22 AM

Thanks CrossEyed! Yeah, it was only a minute long, so you got all of it. That's all Windows Sound Recorder will record without some tweaking, so that's all I bothered wth. Not to mention the fact that the two tracks didn't line up exactly like I wanted since I played the guitar and sang separately and mixed them together. I bought myself a "Ultimate Guide to Digital Music & Audio" magazine yesterday that came with a CD full of recording programs and the like, so maybe I'll give one of those a shot soon since they're multi-track and all that fancy stuff. I know what you're saying about the vowel tones...My ensemble leader always tells us to sing clearly and makes sure we enunciate and all that, so I was probably just being lazy when I did that b/c I was sick of hearing about doing that. After all, I was just doing it because I was bored and wanted to pass the time. If you haven't found the other posts by now, I also recorded "Meet With Me" by Ten Shekel Shirt (Which was recorded on just 1 track in one take, so it sounds better) and posted it at:

Thanks for the complements.

No problem, and I promise I will check out the other recording that you have soon.

Tell me what you think about that magazine you bought, because I wanted to start doing some digital recording pretty soon.

Brent 04-25-2001 10:20 AM

It had lots of cool stuff on the CD, but I didn't install most of it just because I didn't need all of it. The neatest thing I installed was Acid 2.0 which basically lets you take different samples and arrange them to playback all at once...mainly just for fun, though. Most of the decent software was demos that had save disabled or you couldn't record...which to me kind of defeated the purpose of having it at all since that's what I was looking for. I also bought 'Recording' magazine and 'Home Recording'. Those were nice, but mainly looked like stuff for pros to me...I mostly got it for the ads and websites anyway so I could research some. The one I mentioned in the other post was the most helpful, but most of it was for computer recording and not for anything else. I'm looking for digital multitracks to record to MD, ZIP, or hard drive myself.

IAmCrossEyed 04-26-2001 08:59 AM

I would ask you to send it to me through my email, but my email is stupid and doesn't respond well when I get big attachments. However, if you ever get it posted up on a site or something, let me know and I will listen to it.

Mr Niceguy 04-26-2001 10:19 AM

Well, I added some percussion to Brents song and I will have it up on a website in a few days. Right now thouh i'm really sick so I need some rest :-(

MrCrabby 04-26-2001 11:11 AM

Okay, so when i get the words down i'll be sure to send it to you Brent.
