Just a few names...

Dennis Chambers
Mike Portnoy
Terry Bozzio
Virgil Donati

I'll be the first to say that Danny Carey kicks ***, but he's not the best. :(

+Donny 07-22-2002 07:58 PM

who are those guys? (i know Portnoy)

Insane Drummer 07-23-2002 10:10 AM

you don't know those guys.. i have only heard a few but i have heard of all of um... i really wanna hear some bozzio stuff...

Veda Leben 07-23-2002 11:55 PM

Actually, I attended a Terry Bozzio drum clinic...'twas very fun! His set was unnescesarily large ;-)

Insane Drummer 07-25-2002 08:15 AM

ah dude that had to of rocked...

Veda Leben 07-25-2002 01:00 PM

In a word...YES!

+Donny 08-01-2002 11:08 PM

hmm, im adding another 10 splash and 1 16 or 18 china along with a double bass pedal:D

Veda Leben 08-03-2002 11:30 PM

That a boy, Donny ;-)

+Donny 08-04-2002 02:56 PM

lol, im getting there. a splash, a china, 2 crashes, and 2 rides with 3 toms and a double bass pedal right now. I would like another floor tom, but that will have to wait until I get a job. I would have loved to get another bass drum with some mounted toms (it would have been a different color, so I would have arranged them in a striped affect), but I simply dont have the cash. A friend in vermont is willing to sell his normal 5 piece set (1 ride, 1 crash, etc.) for $500, so I may go for that eventually.

I need more crashes for now though:)

Unregistered 08-21-2002 06:56 PM

i've got a nice five piece that i've moved around via clamps. but drums and cymbals are as follows:

14x22 bass drum (i want a deeper one)
10x12 tom (mounted on bass drum)
11x13 tom (clamped onto hi-hat, on the left side of my left leg; handy)
16x16 floor tom

14" invader hi-hats (nice old german company, owned by paiste)
18" zildjian avedis (med/thin) crash (very, very nice)
18" zildjian crash/ride (eh, it's ok)
20" zildjian avedis ride (very, very nice)

Unregistered 08-22-2002 11:57 AM

oh yeah, i forgot, i have an LP wood block clamped onto my hihat. and, uh, anybody got suggestions for a good double bass pedal? or a nice china?

. . .ugh, next time i'm getting a nice tama artstar kit or something. . .18x20-22 bass. . .ugh. . .

+Donny 08-23-2002 01:34 PM

look for titan on ebay.. they sell stands and double bass pedals for cheap

Tama Iron Cobra double bass pedal
Tama stands
Gibralter chair with backrest

14" Z custom hihats

Walmart Shopper 09-27-2002 06:02 PM

anyone have OCPD drums?
i'm just curious if anyone here has OCDP drums. I only know of one person in my city that has them. My drums were about 1,700$, just for the bass and two tom shells. If you include the rest of the stuff, they are worth well over 3,000$, and thats just a 4 piece with 3 cymbals. i still owe my mom a bunch of money. But i know OCPD drums are even more than that. I can't imaging paying that much for drums. but who knows the time may come. at least it's cheaper playing in a punk band when you only need a 4 piece.

progbass8 10-04-2002 09:10 AM

oh my goSH.......

an enforcer 5-peice, anyone ever heard of enforcer, i hope u havent...

my bro needs a new drum set, but right now cymbals are a bigger issue...only have a dented generic 16" crash.

some of the problem i have w/it....
hi-hat wont stay up
only 1 crash hard to get a variety
bass pedal put a hole through the head & its a squeeky single
snare head is so thin and beaten in that it is "wrinkled"
drums dont sound good at all

but right now we have to deal w/it b/cause our parents r still paying off stuff...:ksad:

**EDIT** um please don't say OMG.. **EDIT**

BowoW 10-04-2002 04:42 PM

eh, as long as you have a drum-set that works.. that's all that matters (I will have one starting tommorow I think :D )

I love them! I'm not too impressed with the snare that came with it, but I have a piccolo anyways, so it's not a big deal. I would recommend them, definately! I'm just waiting for one day when I can buy their "Deep Forest" set.. oh my.. I think that'd be the closest to heaven I am going to get here on earth.. ha!

Well, I don't have a kit yet. But when my tax return comes, I'm gnna think about it. And this is what I'm thinking about. So pretty...

Insane Drummer 01-31-2003 08:34 PM

dude thats shweeet. i've gotten alot of new stuff since my most recnt pics of my kit.. what brand is that baby in that pic?

Jay Tea 01-31-2003 08:38 PM

It's a online custm place...people at the harmony central foorums ften have good things to say about them. 6 piece maple kit for 1100...pretty cool.

Unfortunately, I have other things I probably ought to do with my money. Maybe I'll pick up a bass instead. Wait until I have a job and can shell out anoother thousand or so for cymbals and a rack.

Insane Drummer 01-31-2003 08:51 PM

this is a old weird veiw of my kit..lols now i have a new crash a new ride a 12 inch china a cowbell a tambourine and 2 differnt splashs and that splash is i set it on my snare for a cool tighter sound quick kinda like a muffled piccilo

Shredcheddar 01-31-2003 10:14 PM

Hrm.. I tend to take those ratings worth a grain of salt now days, and just look for the problems people point out. Most of the time, people rate it high beacuse of personal pride (you like to beleive that you have good equipment, don't you?), and there may be a little company involvement on those reviews. So what I do is throw out all the 9 10 10 10 10 ratings, and look at the low ones to see what problems there are. That's what does you the real good.. knowing the setbacks. However, it looks like the only setback on that snare is the price!

SOS_Chris 02-06-2003 08:07 PM

Well, Here goes...

My main kit, which I used for most of my last tour, which will probbaly surprise you is a Tama Swingstar Kit....Kind of a diamond in the rough thing with what I got.

I actually use a
22 in Kick
Pearl 10 in rack tom
12 in tom mounted by my hi hat
13 in tom mounted by my floor tom
16 in floor tom
and a 14x5.5 steel snare
I use A mixture of Paiste, Zildjian, and even have a camber cymbal that I use for like a trash cymbal
I mount all of this on an icon rack

I also have a DW kit that I use, collector series
It is as follows...
20 in Kick
10 in mounted tom
15 in floor tom
16 in floor tom
14x3.5 piccolo snare
I use regular stands to mount everything on this kit.
I also Use the RIMS system
Cymbals for this kit are normally straight Zildjian including an 8 in splash, 16 crash, 18 in projection crash, and 20 in ping ride

And then...
A standard 5 piece Ludwig kit that I rarely use.
12, 13, 16, and 22...

God Bless,

SOS_Chris 02-06-2003 08:09 PM

I forgot a standard size Yamaha custom kit too... 12, 13, 16, 22...and a 14x3.5 piccolo snare.

Definitely. That things bigger'n mine!!!! (Which is BIG. My snare's just as big as the drummer's that plays for Lifehouse. :D)

Insane Drummer 02-08-2003 04:55 PM

i like thin little snares.. for that tight POP sound.. and i like big booming basses.. with a nice THUMP:spin: :kspin:

Shredcheddar 02-08-2003 04:58 PM

yeah.. wood snares especially. Plus, thin ones are much easier to carry around. I also think they look cooler.. the other ones look all "confederate marching military drummer" to me.:kcool:

LWatford 02-10-2003 01:46 PM

Here is a pic of one of my kits...Now we set the three toms over the bass drums, and the cymbals are different.

LWatford 02-10-2003 01:49 PM

Insane Drummer 02-10-2003 05:50 PM

is that a Vistilite?!?!?! it looks clear..dude that is shweeeet

robert4xst 02-11-2003 08:52 AM

Yea those clear drums look cool... they's look cooler with black heads.

Err...that was a tom I posted, if that's what you're talking about. And the price was for the whole 6-pc set...not just a snare.
