Les Pauls

i just wanna know what kind of Les pauls you guys like...i'm talking Gibsons here too.

so far my personal favorite has been the junior special followed by the Gothic.

custom! well... actually Class 5... but... yeah :D

thesteve 07-03-2002 03:35 PM

i actually haven't played a custom or a class 5 or an elegant yet.

i played the gothic studio...which i thought felt better than the standard.

and i loved the junior special...because it reminded me of an actual LP only with like half the weight...and the neck was so fast...yum.

I wouldnt recommend buying any guitar that is labelled "goth" seriously it can send the wrong message

thesteve 07-04-2002 10:20 AM

it's called gothic because it's all black...seriously...very few people outside the guitar circle know what a Gibson Les Paul Studio Gothic is...

it's actually a decent guitar...and i like it better than the normal ebony black finish, because the mate black doesn't shine.

double cut-away; dc series (?).

Less weight, awesome finishes, almost the same thing as a standard (cept the looks, obviously) :) :) :)

Gibson LP Standard Double Cutway +
(Trans Amber)

thesteve 07-04-2002 12:59 PM

i didn't get around to trying the double cut...but i noticed that it only has once volume/tone set instead of the two sets on normal LPs...anyone know what difference this makes?

d0c_99 07-04-2002 01:26 PM

in the LP Std
you can control volume and tone for each pickup independantly

on the DC
you can get either full neck pickup, mix 50/50 neck and bridge or pure bridge pickup
then you adjust the tone and volume for whatever you selected

just different routing

thesteve 07-04-2002 02:31 PM

gotcha...that's what i figured...but i wanted to check and make sure.

Well I've Only played an EPIPHONE does that count I mean it is an off brand of Gibson.

Peace out
