Starting Over Again.....Maybe........

So after receiving an I can't help you email from Rondo. I've been thinking about it and I think I really would benefit more from a decent playable guitar than I would from Effects, Big Huge 212 cabinet etc.. So I'm gonna sell all my electric guitar related gear except for the Tiny Terror and the 112 Marlboro Music cabinet. That should net me around $850-$900 hopefully. I will then be able to get me a decent guitar. Does this sound totally stupid?

I don't think it sounds stupid. I have thought about consolidating my gear into something nice for a while. For 900 you should be able to have a few very nice options.

No it sounds smart.

I've thought for a long time that it is stupid to buy a bunch of cheap gear that you'll have to upgrade farther on down the line. Better to save and get the good stuff that will last you a lifetime now. All it needs is a little patience and discipline...

And $900 spent well will get you a pro level guitar easily, and depending on what you want, potentially with money left over.

what guitar are you looking at? I think this is key to restarting. Finding a good, solid choice to move to.

Well I really like P90's Les Pauls (Specials too!) and SG's and 335's Humbuckers are cool too on the Fender side I like telecasters but sometimes it seems like it's hard to get both a decent tone out of the neck and bridge pickup. The Bridge is too bright turn down the tone and the neck is too dark. I'm pretty open actually I must admit I am a little picky about the way they look sometimes but I do like some weird stuff...

What about a dual-humbucker Tele '72 Deluxe style? Maybe Thinline?

Sounds like a good plan to me.
Playing a guitar that you enjoy playing should be of the highest order.
You can add all of the other toys later, but first get yourself something that you do not have to fight to make work for you.

I would get the Fender 72' Deluxe.. a Female that im playing with has one of these and wow.. blowes my Epip out the water .. really blows any guitar i've heard live out the water.. GREAT SOUND .. really.. you get that .. Get something like a boss GT-8 or something to cover "EFFECTS" really and then your Geared to go, mostlikely with a way better set up then before. Tiny Terrors are little monsters :)

That is a great guitar. A friend of mine has one, and he gets some seriously amazing tone out of it. They play extremely well too (I've had the chance to play around with it.) Check out the following link for a taste of it. Not the best sound quality, but you can get a good idea of what it sounds like.

That is the guitar into a standard Tubescreamer into an old Fender Bassman head.

I've actually played the solid body before and liked it a whole lot. Just got an offer on the Orange 212 for $400 dollars cash. Yay! But anyways the solid body is a guitar I actually like a whole lot. P90s in humbucker shape might be a thing to think about for me though since I thought it sounded a bit Harsh. But yeah I need to go play a few.

There's an SG I've got mine eye on but other than that I'm really leaning Tele with single coils. I mean humbuckers are cool but then it's not really a tele. Also I would love a white one such as the 50's Ri Telecaster. Seen here http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/p...tar?sku=510138.
How would this work for Indie/Rock and Praise and worship stuff with the pickups in it? Would I need to change them? And has anyone here played one of these?

They'd work, I mean, it's really all about personal preference.

consolidating is a good idea. what's he point of keeping all the old gear that you never use?

a few months back I got a Rolang GP8 with a FC100 pedal controller. I'd lusted after one for literally 20 years. when they came out they were over 1500

when I got it I cleared out my other FX pedals and ended up with cash in hand.

I'm now a very happy bunny
