iPod or New Guitar? Hi, a while ago i had a thread "les paul or SG" and i think i narrowed it down to an Epi SG. But now i have realized how great iPods are. I love listening to music and i love playing it. I already have and electric, but its not that great but it gets me around. i probably have a 40% chance of playing guitar at church now, not the service, but for the sunday school part. Of course i would probably use acoustic for that, my dad has an old vintage epiphone (30+ years) and my sister might sell me her washburn acoustic/electric, plays real nice. Any way off topic, what do you think iPod or New electric? |
Guitar. iPods are overrated. |
get the guitar. I had an ipod last year and replaced it 4 times because the HD kept failing. Learn to rock. |
guitar...new iPOD models are coming out two or three times a year it seems...by the time you save up for another guitar, your iPOD is going to be old and you're going to think, "man i need a new one" |
depends...how much time do you spend playing guitar, and how much listening to music? how will either purchase affect these times? i bought a cheap portable mp3 player instead of an ipod once, thinking "i don't listen to much music, i don't need an ipod..." boy was i wrong. i saw how much more i listned to music after i bought an ipod. (if you do get one, buying straight from apple is worth looking into-they delayed my order a couple days so i'd get the then-unrevealed standard color ipod.) but how would having a good guitar work into your playing? also, would a "tune up" for you guitar help if you went eith the ipod? yeah, i'm a what-ifer, that's why i'm studying engineering. |

Cheaper mp3 player AND guitar. ;) I got a Creative Muvo Slim 256mb for Christmas for only $50. It holds about 4-5 CDs worth of music; I don't see how that could not be enough unless you are gone for weeks at a time and can't get to your computer to put new songs on it. Sure, it takes a little more work than having every song you own on your mp3 player, but you can only listen to so many songs in one day anyway. |
but i must remind you all, ipods carry thousands of songs and when i travel or am at school it would be nice to have that along rather than a discman that burns batteries badly and a case full of cds. But i bring my guitar to school quite abit, and i suppose i could take my little ukulele with me in vehicle when we are going someplace, rock out on a uke, how about that? |

i normally burn about halfway through my ipod's batteries in one days listening. (about 5-6 hours, but i'm running eq and backlightalso remember ipods do more than music. (mine doubles as a external hard drive.) and let me tell you, having all your CDs in one spot is why i bought the ipod even though i had a cheaper alternative, no more horsing around. |

I've got an idea. Wait until Apple releases a hybrid guitar/MP3 player. Some day. . . And that day will ruin guitar playing even more. |

how long till you can afford either the guitar or the ipod? cause with a job you may consider saving more for another guiter. (yeah, i know, another search, right?) |
