I love Day of Fire. I got both CD's after hearing them live. But, having seen DC Talk live and having their CD's too, I have to go with DC Talk based on their history, their musicianship, song writing abilities and long term contribution to the Christian rock scene.

No comment on Disciple. ;)

DC Talk is the only "D" band I specifically like. Delirious is alright, too contemporary for me. Day of fire has about 3 songs I like, the rest is meaningless repetitious generic noise. I only have one disciple cd, and I like about 3 songs from it too, I might get one of their newer ones (I have back again) Demon Hunter is alright, I can't take music like that serious though. I've never heard Decemberadio.

I've never heard Decemberadio.

Their debut CD was nominated for a Grammy this year for Gospel Rock or Rap album, and it won the Dove award for Rock album of the year. Check them out. :)

DC Talk is one of the truely great Christian rock bands of all time. Jesus Freak is a legendary album. Up until that album was released, most other Christian rock was embarrassing. Jesus Freak raised the bar quite a bit and set the standard.

Disciple rules, hands down.

There is NO denying they have a message. MOST of their music is very aggressive. Brad is the christian version of Zak Wilde.

If you haven't heard the song/album "By God", I highly recommend it for people that like hard rock with drop tuned guitars and plenty of aggression.
I love the whole album, but favorites would be
"By God" (aggressive screamin),
"God of Elijah" (Great story with cool guitar licks),
"knocked down" (puts my life in perspective),
"Coal" (LOVE that opening lick with pinch harmonics),
"Can't breathe" (another perspective song),
"Not since breakfast" (reminds me to find a quiet time and talk to God, Love the riffs and timing of the song)

That's 6 of the 20 songs, and there is actually something I like about every single one.

Nobody said the pinnacle of all "D" bands: Daniel Amos

13 full-length albums between 1975 and 2001, including the famed four-part Alarma Chronicles. Two of their albums, Horrendous Disc and Alarma, were named in the top "100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music" by CCM.
Artist like Randy Stonehill, The 77s, Phil Keaggy, Steve Taylor, Jimmy Abegg, Phil Madeira, Crystal Lewis, This Train, Carolyn Arends, The Throes, The Choir, Mortal, Larry Norman, Doug TenNapel, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Deliverance, Starflyer59 and Collective Soul have listed Daniel Amos as one of their "inspirations."
Also, Daniel Amos was the first artist named to CCM Magazine's rock "hall-of-fame."
