Which one is your fav?

I happen to like every album they have out (well not all of them, I've never heard the first 2 cause they're out of print). Here are some thoughts about them I have.

Free At Last, though dated, was very big in its day, so I've heard. I think it's funny that that's what they used to sound like, and I listen to it cause of that. This one is dominated for the most part by Toby Mac, cause he leads most of the songs with his raps.

Jesus Freak is definite classic. I heard this album the first out of all of them, but I can definetly see how they progressed from hip hop keyboard based music to being backed by a full band. Something about this combination makes this 'party rock' in my mind. Having heard Tait's new stuff (in concert, he opened for Deliriou5?), Jesus Freak shows a lot of his influence (or, to be fair, maybe Tait's new stuff is influenced by the Jesus Freak record).

Supernatural shows a kind of progress in the band. It's songs seem to be more introspective than previous records to me. Supernatural has a progressive kinda feel to it that I think was hinted at in "Alas My Love," so that would show a major influence from KMax.

And then there's Intermission and there's Solo, which put it all together with a hint of where they're going.

So if anybody else would like to add their in-depth analysis to this, feel free. I probably have all the facts crooked so go ahead and correct me, please!

i like intermission - but that's cos that's the only one i have!! hehe...

what i like about dctalk is they are so skilled musically and their lyrics are very thought-provoking - they put so much thought, effort and originality into it which i think makes them so good.

well, there's my 2p a thought hehe

Jesus Freak is the best.

Supernatural feels too 'forced' - like they were trying too hard.

There are still a couple of songs on the very first album that make me smile...... But Free at Last makes me frown.

I've gotta go with Intermission, which has a slight edge over Jesus Freak, just because it takes all the best songs off of Jesus Freak and then adds the other best stuff that they've ever written to it, and so that makes for just one absolutely INCREDIBLE album. I'm glad that they put "I Wish We'd All Been Ready" and "My Will" to the Greatest Hits album, because you can't really find them on any other cd's that are exclusively dc Talk's (except finding "I Wish We'd All Been Ready" on the "Jesus Freak Single") but anyways, Intermission is definitely the best. :)

by the way, who voted for the self-titled album? I'm not making fun of them, I'm just interested in what they have to say about it, that's all. :D

HAY DUDE , LIKE I VOTED FOR SOLO, ITS A WELL STRUCTURED ALBUM THAT INCORPORATES STYLES THAT THEYVE BEEN USING SINCE THEY STARTED. IT STARTS WITH 40 LIVE, THIS IS FOLLOWED BY TWO SONGS EACH FROM THE GUYS. THIS ALBUM IS ONLY FOR THE MOST DEDICATED OF dc FANS THOUGH SO I WOULDN'T RECOMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO HASN'T AT LEAST HEARD "NU THANG"
:) :p ;) :)

I just don't know if I like Jesus Freak or Supernatural better...but then Intermission has the best of everything...hard choice!:)

It's really a tough choice! If you'll remember my last signature (Hey You! I'm into Jesus!") Then you'll know that I like Supernatural, and that's cuz it's got so much cool stuff on it, but Jesus Freak is a classic! And then Intermission has all the good stuff on it (well most of it) so, what a dilemna!

By the way Post #200!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!

[COLOR=blue] I think it's really a personal thing, i mean it's not like anyone is going to have you shot for not liking the same album as them, you know what i'm saying, the Lord gave man freedom to choose so lets not let others influence our decisions.

Personally I like the Intermision album as well. :D

Jesus Freak was an amazing album...but I found myself enjoying Supernatural much more...they just plain ol' ROCK on that album!!! I think it is the best sound for them and is just edgy enough to showcase all of the individual talent of Tait, Kmax, and TobyMac

Hmmm... Tough decisions. I thought that the album entitled dc Talk wasn't all THAT great. It is amazing to listen to it, though. Their style changed so much over the years. I don''t think I'll vote, though because Jesus Freak and Supernatural are two of my ABSOLUTE Favorites!

Listening to What if I stumble?

Oh, yeah, and I thought the Reprise (Jesus Freak) almost put a bad name to a good song.:D (Just Kidding)!

As much as I've enjoyed Intermission: The greatest hits, I think I'm going to stick with my absolute favourite - Solo, of which my favourites are 40 live, Alibi, Return of the singer and Extreme days - DCT, Tait, Kmax, Toby Mac (consecutively)

"I dont care if I am famous, I dont care if Im a super-star, I dont care about the consequenses, as long as I can glorify my God, and I know He'll catch me when I'm falling, and I know He's never going to let me down... I don't care if you don't love me @cos God has all the love I'll ever need" - MIC (Catch Me)

:p
Peace love and happiness

I liked all their cd's but I think the best has to be either Free at Last or Jesus Freak.

Granted both Free At Last and Jesus Freak were great recordings, Jesus Freak pulling the largest following to date, but people move on and like a fine wine, mature with age.

Imagine if Tree63 hadn't written the new songs and sounds for the original "63" album, no-one outside of South Africa would have heard of them and their following wouldn't have grown to the proportions it has achieved.

Anyways all I'm sayin' is that maybe you should try listening to even newer stuff of theirs.

I personally like Jesus Freak. I think it is a Classic! My brother bought the cd and I was hooked on dc talk ever since.

Supernatural is also good as it has some songs that I like: "Wanna Be Loved" "Since I Met You"

I also own a copy of Intermission. I think it's pretty good but I wish they included "Spirit in the Sky" coz its a jive-y sort of song.

Don't know about their solo ones though, I'm a bit torn in three ways and they are all talented individually.

Basically, I like the albums from Jesus Freak onwards.
