Actually I love the record. The only thing is that the booklet smells wierd! I think it's the ink. I was starting to wonder if it every one of them cuz the one that I played at my local bookstore smelled and the one I just got for my birthday smelled too. WHAT"S UP WITH THAT!?!?!

I never noticed either...I just noticed that the actual physical cd is wierd. There are no graphics or anything on the physical cd, like most cds have...it's all discombobulated(?) text; it says: "forefront logo here" and stuff like that. I was wondering if I'm the only one.

Yeah, I think the entire theme of the record is that it's not in a presentable form. The cover looks like just a working cover, and there's no CD graphics.

Yep... same with mine..... I think it's kinda cool looking...... I wonder if that's what prototype CD's really look like?? Like before everyone adds the graphics.

Mine doesn't smell bad. I did buy it used, though. Maybe it has had time to air aout a little bit.:D

Hm... another interesting idea?

By the way, how did you manage to get you picture over 90 by 90?

Man, it wreaks physically, acousically and lyrically!!
Can we say "self-absorbed"? Where's Jesus? Where's His love and truth?? It's all about them!!!

Whoa man, just a sec... I don't get your point, can you explain yourself a little bit? It may have a bad smell, but I'll try to vouch for the music. Just have an open mind.

40 is a psalm, so it's got the lyrics. I do wish that it was longer (and where's Toby?) but it's alright.

I'd have to say that Alibi rocks! You may not get the lyrics, but I think he's talking to the devil, telling him that he doesn't need him hanging around anymore.

All You Got is a little weak musically (I don't know how it got to be a hit radio single), but the words are good, talking about giving God all you got.

Return of the Singer has some awesome music, but it is a little self-centered. There is a note in the liner notes saying that KMax wanted to write the song about his lifetime on stage.

Be is an alright song musically, and what's wrong with telling people to be yourself?

Somebody's Watching is rap, so I can't comment on the music, but it talks about God all the way through. I think it doesn't just mean that all the hecklers and people out to get him are watching, but that God is watching also.

Extreme Days is also rap, but as for the words, it's Toby's biography, about livin' extreme - for sports and for Jesus - and that God told him to live extreme.

Of course, if you just hate DC Talk or their style then I can't pursuade you of anything, but you know what, think however you want. I know that none of them are as good as when they work together, but I'd ask you to give 'em a chance.

Well... first of all..... let me say I can't stand it when people don't identify themselves......... that leaves me about two thoughts as to who you are....

1) Just some dude who decided he hates the album and has no life.... so therefore he searches the net for places to put it down.

or

2) Somebody on this board who for some reason or another is afraid to let their opinions be known as THEIR opinions...... so they post anonymously.

If neither of these is the case.... I'm sorry....... either way, hope you weren't offended.

Now.... here's my real reply...... I have to admit that the first time I listened to the album.... I thought I was listening to secular music. Let the truth be told.... most of these songs aren't inherently "Christian"........................ however, they are good songs..... they certainly do not contradict the Bible or God in any way. They have positive moral values behind them.... and most of them do have small parts that are "Christian" Ok... next point........ Jesus and His love are on the indivudual artists solo albums. For example, Empty by Tait has quite a few songs that "Talk about Jesus" (which just so happens to be my favorite track on the CD)..... and a lot of them just show the love of God..... American Tragedy comes to mind. There are still some songs that are more secular.... but they are far from what the trend of secular music is today. I think DC Talk was trying to reach out to the secular world..... I think if you gave somebody who wasn't a Christian the Solo album, they might be tempted to go and buy the individual's albums when they come out. And I know all those albums will have songs that talk about God and His love...... thus exposing a lost and dying world to God and His love. Soooooo...... about the music, I don't even know what to say to you about that...... if you don't like it fine, but I personally think it was written with great professionalism and sounds really good. Again, hope I haven't offended you...... but I just had to throw in my $.02

Hey, 'Shine: The Hits' by the Newsboys stinks the same way, Not as much, but it has the same paper, so I think that's the culprit.

Hey! My Newsboys CD doesn't stink and the paper isn't rough either, it just the normal smooth paper. Anyway... the song 40 on the dc Talk Solo album, if I'm not mistaken, is a U2 song? I read that somewhere. Or it could be another song on that album, but one of them is.

Gus

You and I may have gotten different versions.

As for 40, it is a U2 song. Isn't that just like dcTalk, to do a cover like that. How many now?

My cover stinks too!! Tobymac is the only one who is really bold about his faith in the songs. Can't wait 4 his cd in a couple of weeks! Kmax has a lot of 'nice' songs and Tait's is alright.

Gus

I wouldn't quite say it that way... Each album kinda has a different focus I think. Tait's album spoke to all sorts of people that are hurt and "empty". Kevin's album is a lot more of a thinker than most, which may make you overlook it, but I think it's mostly about questions of one's existence, who a person is. The music is, in my opinion, a little more than nice too. Toby, I gotta love 'im, cuz he's just got "mad skillz" (to get into the genre)! I can't wait for his album either!

Anyway, I hope that Toby's album won't have that stench that characterized the Solo disc.
