Has anyone here heard of Dashboard Confessional? He's a singer/songwriter, and he's amazing! I'd recommend downloading some songs if you can. Anyone who has heard of him, what do you think?

wow, you posted this a long time ago... he is wicked cool! I first heard him through my non-christian friends who play it constantly, then I found out he used to pe part of a group that used to be christian and I was like cool! his songs are cool, but they are all about him and a girl friend who cheated on him it seems. kinda makes me feel bad! but hey I guess he got soem good material out of it right!

Yeah, Chris Carrabba rules! The band he was in is called Further Seems Forever, and I'm pretty sure they're still Christian. Check out their cd "The Moon Is Down", it sounds kinda like dashboard would with electric guitars and such, and as far as I know that's the only cd that Chris did vocals for, but check it out!

Dashboard Confessional or Further Seems Forever aren't Christian

We had a discussion on this earlier, and decided they are not. Chris Carrabba (the brains behind it all) is a strong Christian but I have yet to find a Christian meaning in most of his songs. Talking about him "getting some" from a girl does not sound to Christian to me.

I love both of the bands, don't get me wrong. I just do not think they are Christian bands, although they are amazing.

I don't know about Dashboard having a christian messege or not, but Further Seems Forever does.

I started listening to them a couple of months ago and now I can't get enough of them! Chris has some great song writing skills, but I'm just amazed by his gut-wrenching vocals! "This Bitter Pill" has some incredible passion behind it! It almost hurts to listen to! He's so real and legit in the stuff he's singing about.

Chris is a born again Christian, but his songs are not "Christian" songs. He doesn't swear or anything though, so I'd say they're wholesome songs. The band Further... was/is a Christian band. Dashboard isn't. But they're still awesome! I'm just praying that record companies and MTV don't get their hooks into the band and start messing with their sound and stuff.

i first heard Dashboard Confessional about a week ago... i was quite impressed with how he can take just an acoustic guitar and make great music.... the music world needs more people like him :D and the best thing... it's clean! i hate people who think they have to use the f word every other word to make a song

I'd just like to state for the record that Dashboard Confessional rules.

They/he are/is a great band/singer.

Anyways i saw the video for Screaming Infidelities on Mtv the other day but that only means that they're gonna get more popular. Rock On!!

Yeah they're going to get more popular, but I'm just hoping that record companies don't start getting their hooks into things. Companies could start pushing them into things. I'd love to see Chris stick to the simple acoustic guitar with limited backups and sing his heart out like always. I just don't want them turning into an "MTV band".

Yeah that song on the EP about "getting some" bothered me too. I have his first 2 other cd's and there is nothing really bad on them. I mean there are parts like " I'm missing your bed" and stuff, some stuff that isn't too Christian, but for a non-christian band or whatever it's not bad, and I LOVE Dashboard, but they tend to bother me alittle. I love the concerts though b/c everyone sings at the top of their lungs and it just sounds amazing! They are geting really poplular now, and I think thats good. maybe instead of going the MTV way he will put more Christian stuff in his songs... who knows

It really bothers me to hear people say that Further Seems Forever isn't a Christian band. I mean, they don't sit there and say "We're a Christians band" or anything. Instead they acknowledge that they're Christians and everything they do is for Christ. Wouldn't that include music?
I've been listening to Further Seems Forever for a while now. Their new singer is incredible. "The Moon Is Down" is the only Further album that Chris sings on...in fact, it's their only full-length album. They have a split with Recess Theory and they're on Emo Diaries Volume 3 (I think it's 3). Hopefully they'll be recording with Jason Gleason (their new singer) really soon. He's amazing.
As for Dashboard...amazing music. Chris isn't the greatest guitarist in the world, but he writes great songs. His lyrics are intelligent (usually) and his voice is incredible. I've heard many places that he's a Christian, but his lyrics don't really reflect. That's not any of my business, though. Has any heard about what happened with him, Drive-Thru Records, Vagrant Records? If not, let me know, and I shall pass my knowledge along.

Just in case you guys didn't know the guys in Further Seems Forever (the musicians that is) were formerly in the hardcore band Strongarm which was definately a Christian band. Chris Carraba joined them to make Furthers' "The Moon Is Down" and left the band before the album came out. Most if not all the members of Further are Christians and are like most Christian bands in that they have the Good message but don't want to be overtly preachy. As for Chris, I too think he is an amazing songwriter but I also don't like some of his subject matter. Oh well. They both rock and Further is in the studio to record a new record with Jason singing. I don't know, just my 2 cents.

Um.. maybe a couple aren't about his Girl friend, but most are. I think he has a song called " for Justin " whcih I haven't heard but I thought that it was about his cousin or something, but I don't know I haven't heard it. At least his latest EP has good relationship songs and not sad break up ones, a step in the right direction!:)

This weekend i saw a free Dashboard concert in Boston. Besides being in the hot sun for a really long time I though that it was goign to be good. I know that his lyrics aren't "christian"per say but they have always been ok, until now. during the last song he just stated getting all random and thowing all sorts of lyrics together, and he swore. I know that some of you are like, oh whats the big deal. But I thought it was and I was disapointed in him, alot. not to say that I won't listen to him anymore, but it's kinda been tainted to me.

I saw Dashboard like a month ago opening for Weezer. They played half their set with electric guitars. It really drained the emotion out of the songs. They sounded very generic compared to their albums. It was funny because before they came out, my friend joked to me about how some day Chris would walk out carrying an electric guitar and alienate his fans like Bob Dylan. And then he did. We were all kind of confused by it because it was dull. At least in my opinion and all of my friends opinions. I love Chris's recorded matrial though.
