My dad just had lunch with this guy, he wrote a few books, and is big on neanderthrals, i was wondering what you guys thought of this:
his theory is that, because of the decay(God's curse) we are actually having a sort of devolution going on. His belief is that neanderthral are the old humans, because are better, they have larger birth canals, bigger brains, bigger muscles, better bones, etc.
also, that the Lucys are the previous chimps, and that the hominids are the old apes

I don't know about Neanderthrals being "better"...I've always just seen them as being humans with a different bone structure, a bone structure that in all probability still exists today. I do believe that defects in genes that have built up over the centuries have weakened the human race; therefore, our ancestors would have been stronger and probably more intelligent than us, comparitively. For example, today we know a good deal about physics, genetics, and so on, but that's because our knowledge is cummulative, building on what our ancestors learned. The ancient Egyptians knew how to build pyramids without any of the technology we have today, and even with our modern devices we can't match their feats! By the way, the bigger brains in Neanderthrals don't necessarily mean that they were more intelligent, any more than a person today is exceptionally smart because he/she has a big brain. So, in answer to your question, I don't think that Neanderthrals are the "perfect race," but I do think that people in general were at a physical and mental advantage in the past.

well, i got this from this guy, he has supposedly handled the REAL fossils of them, took pictures with some X ray thing, and brought them back and studied them. He is an orthonodist, so he knows a lot about bone structure, and he isnt saying they were adam and eve perfect, but they were the humans living right when the flood happened. there is evidence in their skulls to assume they lived longer, too. And their brain size was bigger, they were smarter, their bones and muscles were better and stronger. their structure isnt entirely different, not very different at all, but enough to make a difference.

his theory is that, because of the decay(God's curse) we are actually having a sort of devolution going on. Would that be microdeevolution or macrodeevolution?
His belief is that neanderthral are the old humans, because are better, they have larger birth canals, bigger brains, bigger muscles, better bones, etc. Reduced linguistics, smaller social groups, less complex tool-creation skills....
also, that the Lucys are the previous chimps, and that the hominids are the old apes You and I are hominids.
I've always just seen them as being humans with a different bone structure, a bone structure that in all probability still exists today. You saw a human that looked like this?

The ancient Egyptians knew how to build pyramids without any of the technology we have today, and even with our modern devices we can't match their feats! It's amazing how often the ignorant claim that. FYI, the largest pyramid in the world is in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our wonders far surpass theirs.
well, i got this from this guy, he has supposedly handled the REAL fossils of them, took pictures with some X ray thing, and brought them back and studied them. And I posted pictures for ou and you declared yourself incompitent to determine ape from human.
their structure isnt entirely different, not very different at all, but enough to make a difference. That's pretty relative. Since you are self-declared incompitent (http://christianguitar.ws/boards/showthread.php?s=&postid=183703#post183703) You will need to cite someone else saying so.

lol, micro;)
Reduced linguistics, smaller social groups, less complex tool-creation skills....
what does this have to do with their structure? knowledge is cummulative, of course they would be simpler then, this is 4 thousand years ago
You and I are hominids.
And I posted pictures for ou and you declared yourself incompitent to determine ape from human.
i never said I agreed with him, just asking what you thought, HE is well qualified to judge the skeletons
That's pretty relative. Since you are self-declared incompitent (http://christianguitar.ws/boards/sh...3703#post183703) You will need to cite someone else saying so.

Jerry,
But is that pyramid in LV made of stone, or modern metals?
JerryLove

It's made of far more complex and difficult to work materials than sandstone.

Like what?
Because some of those sandstone blocks are really big, and came from quite a ways away from where they are now.:)
I'm not saying that they were more advanced than us, I'm just saying that it wasn't umpteen thousand slaves that did all that by hand.
BTW, has anyone else seen anything about the experiment that they're going to do using wind power to replicate how the Eygytians might have built those pyramids?

I'm not saying that they were more advanced than us, I'm just saying that it wasn't umpteen thousand slaves that did all that by hand. While "hand" in this context is relative, it was done without the aid of powered machinery. I am responding to the claim that the feat was beyond our ability to do (a claim made on this thread, though not by you). That claim is silly and unsupported.
The egyptians were certainly clever engineers, as were the Greek, the Babylonians, the Romans, the Ulmecs, the Chinese, the Indians, etc.I find no support that any were more or less clever than modern engineers. They faced different challenges, with different technology, and devised different solutions.

actually I have seen documentaries where a team of researchers attempt to build an ancient egyptian piece of architecture, and cant with all our technology

I bet that is a total load of crap dude. Really, use some common sense.

I'd have to agree on that one. We might not know how they did it, but we can replicate it with relative ease using modern technology. And the people in the documentaries might have been trying to do it WITHOUT all of our technology.:)

Hmm, I should restate that. With our modern knowledge (such as physics and mechanics) we can't replicate what they did using the methods they used. I have also seen the documentaries where people have tried to replicate Egyptian arcitecture, but with the tools the Egyptians had at the time, not with modern technology.

Haven't any of you guys seen StarGate? The Egyptions didn't build the pyramids.
I'm just joking, don't take me serious.

The alien race that was in Stargate, ya know, the Ra guy and such.
I'm a big fan of the series, and it's pretty much a continuation of the movie. It's even got same guy who played the scientist in the movie as the scientist in the series.
Now you know.:D
What was this thread about, anyway?;)
