What's your favorite Wah? Which is better and why? Get model specific... bigger sweep, foot action, treble&bass, etc...

Of course... The good ol' Vox gets my vote! It's what started it all!

I tend to use wah pedals as filters, instead of the typical effect. My favorite "normal" wah is the Crybaby, but I really like my DigiTech Whammy/Wah for its different sounds. The best Wah sound I ever had was controlling different EQ bands through MIDI. I was able to completly personalize my wah sound. I sold that setup, and now I wonder if I made a mistake!

Bonus Question-
What instrument(s) was the Wah-Wah pedal ment to imitate? I've heard a couple of stories and know of two answers.

Jim Dunlop CryBaby 95Q all the way! I like it cause it gets more wail than the others. I give the VOX Wah-Wah is a great wah, but I dont like it that it just does a low wah tone.

the wah imitates a plunger moving over the soundhole of a trumpet.it also can imitate human voice.the closest you can get to a human voice,is an acoustic guitar, with a glass slide and a wah.

um,you didnt even include any "good" wahs.yeah a vox is ok with true bypass, but then it's nowhere near a clyde fulltone.and those are nowhere near the king of wahs, the teese picture wah.there is no doubt that the teese picture wah is the best out there today,if you disagree, you sniff glue.or you don't have a refined tonal pallette

I plan to buy the line 6 FM4, which is $365 can. That I can justify. With those modelers a least you get 16 effects! I gotta check out this Wah, for $300 bucks it better be good!

The Teese is probably the best but my Fav is the Fullltone Clyde, it is nice and warm. Currently though I own an original CryBaby it does OK for now, til I get my Fulltone.

I guess your talking about the seek-wah that Line 6 copied for their filter modeler. While Z. Vex was the first person to put it in a case, the sequenced wah sound can be acceived with any good modular synth. I'm pretty sure that is where he got the insperation for that pedal, since the effect is very similar.

I've got a CryBaby - it sounds cool but bits fell off and the switch broke. My GT6 should arrive next week. It has several Wahs modelled and you can make your own by setting the Q parameters, sweep etc.

I've done that before... add some reverb and a little chorus and with careful note selection you'd swear there was a little old lady in your amp yelling at you hehehe

As for wahs, original Jim Dunlop Crybaby all the way, baby...

while sequenced wah is nothing new,the seek-wah is still his own version.line 6 took the seek-wah and the super hard on.they used those 2 names and zachery's on packaging, and promotion, when he explicitly told then not to.they could have used any other wah or distortion, after he asked them not to use his,but they used his anyway.and, not that their imitations stink, but they don't compare to the real deals.kids will hear the SHO and think it stinks, causing zac to lose money. He is in the process of talking to lawyers now.hopefully he can get a big enough lawsuit against L6 for copyright infringment, and knock L6 out of business(we can all dream:))

My GT6 Arrived!!!!!

The wahs are pretty good actually. The Crybaby model is not quite as harsh as the crybaby I have, but it sounds like it will be very useful. My crybaby is very growly and gritty with the pedal full back.
The Vox model is very smooth. I haven't even started playing with the others yet. This unit is excellent.
