Hi everyone, this is my first post here, but the boards seem awesome!

For the past 6 months or so I have been playing guitar with my churches worship band, and every so often get an oppurtunity to lead worship. So far every time this has happened I give the singing duties to one of the singers in our band, however I LOVE singing.

I almost quit the band a month ago because I was focusing more on the guitar aspect of worship than the WORSHIP aspect of it. Things have improved since, but I still find it hard to worship without singing or at least humming.

This september I recorded the first song that I ever wrote (2 summers ago) and though the vocals are better than how I used to sing, I don't know if I have voice to lead worship.

BTW this song isn't really Christian at all. I wrote it 2 years ago and at that time 1/2 of it was for God and half of it was for a girl.

Sorry,
here's the link to the song.

So what do you think? Should I consider leading worship myself next time, or leave the singing duties up to the others?

I think you sing fairly well. Like everyone in this world, work some on it and it can only get better. Focus on praising God with your gift and all should be well :D

Ya know what I'm gonna be blunt here :).....leading worship is not about how well your voice is it's about your heart. When I lead worship I hope people dont even listen to me and just focus on what they're singing to God. If you heart is on worship that is ALL that matters. Make a joyful noise even if it's not beautiful if it's for God he will think it is!! :)

P.S. You have a good voice though ;)

"Make A Joyful Noise to the Lord" -ALL THE EARTH.... including those who (by opinion) may not be the best singers in the world. Make that joyful noise, it's joyful in God's ear no matter how it sounds to us.

Keep your focus above.

In Christ,
Chris
