View Full Version : Oasis
I wish they were Christian!!! I saw their music video "WonderWAll" at the shoe store and I LOVED their sound, but yeah, they aren't good at all....-Adam

My feelings about Oasis are the same as one of their song titles - where did it all go wrong?
They used to be sooo good (but never the match of Blur) but slowly they managed to disappear into their own hype. Which is a shame.

Yeah! Oasis rules! Well... they used to be really good then they got cocky and made Be Here Now which is their worse album. I use to love their music, but then it kind of wore off on me. BUt lately I put their music on and I am amazed by how good the songs are. Their melodic style is very much to my liking, but as for them personally, I really don't respect their attitude.

Pride comes before the fall, and after the huge acceptance of What's the Story... Morning Glory Oasis became very pridefull. Liam was quoted as saying "we are bigger than Jesus Christ now." They fell and pretty hard...

In context, that was because they filled a HUGE gig - outdoor somewhere if I remember correctly.
Some smart Bishop or priest or someone clerical (I forget what he was exactly) was quoted a couple of days later as pointing out that filling one place once wasn't quite as impressive as the millions of Christians going to Church every week all around the world. Which is true. Anyways, I think it was something to do with something Lennon said wasn't it, about the Beatles being bigger than God - so of course Oasis had to be just as big.

Oasis are a great band, and there later stuff isnt as bad as everyone says. Although, they've never matched up to Definitely Maybe and maybe the Masterplan. All downhill from there. Still though, they are recording a new album, and apparently they are going back to the simple chord progressions they used to use, instead of the more Stone Roses style chords. Which is the other band they blatantly rip off.
Noel should go solo (he's the reasonable, song writing one), Liam should go acquire some intelligence (he's the one with the long hair, and the short temper)

I didn't really give Oasis much thought until I saw their Behind the Music: Oasis from VH1. Now, I am a VH1 junkie--I've seen every Behind the Music there is, and to my shock, Oasis was by far my favorite BtM of them all. So far people have been calling them "cocky" since their latest album, but wouldn't you say that they've been cocky the whole time?! Yes, I think they're cocky, but for some reason, in my deepest of hearts, I think they would be cool guys if I could just get to know them. Perhaps their attitudes are just a cover up--maybe so no one really bothers them much... Although I haven't seen it work so much.

noel would be a cool guy, but liam is a bit of a silly boy really. But, he can sing. So that evens it up. Although his song on the last album sucked big time, little james it was called. and he is writing songs for the new album I have just been informed, so i am worried.

Liam is the presentation.
Noel is the talent behind it.
Poor Noel has to deal with Liam's stoopid pranks and Liam thinks he can do whatever he likes because he's the vocals. Noel is taken advantage of. Noel deserves a whole lot more credit, I am thinking.

yeah, but most people know who runs the oasis show, so maybe liam is just trying to snare some of the attention for himself.

Deffinitly Maybe and What's the story...morning glory are 2 of the best albums of the 90's... and what rock stars aren't cocky?
Axel Rose. He isn't cocky. He is simply misunderstood. One time the Brett Michaels from poison got in fight with Izzy. Axel stood up to Brett and challenged him to a fight to the death. They just never got around to fighting to the death
Wonderwall is awsome. And as much as Scott denies it, there are musical similarities between Oasis and The Beatles. They are completely notorious in the US for ripping off The Beatles. Not their look, but their sound. Well and their look.

Oasis ripped off the Stone Roses!
They are famous for ripping off the Beatles here too, but twas the Stone Roses they took more from. Who took lots from the Beatles. ;).
They took more from their look, though, I'd say.
We over here across the pond care not for your small time Stone Roses. We listen to the beatles. They're a real ALL-AMERICAN BAND.

So over the past few months, I've acquired (What's the story) Morning Glory, Definately Maybe, Heathen Chemistry, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, and Don't Believe the truth. Oasis is definately my favorite band at the moment.
What's the story is my favorite. It's just such a great album. Probably the best I've ever heard...
I have a paticular affinity for Heathen Chemistry. The middle of that album is amazing... The first few tracks are lack-luster, but from Stop Cryint your Heart out, and on, it's just a great album.
I haven't listened to the newest album much, but I love Let there be love.
SOTSOG is sub-par, but ****ing in the bushes is a great opening track.
It's a shame this hasn't been posted in since 2003...

I heard that song in a trailer for some movie the other day. I don't remember what movie it was. I know it was in Snatch though, because Snatch had that killer soundtrack.
