When I turn it up all the way, my signal cuts out almost completely. This is very annoying. I've used contact cleaner to try and clean out any dirt that may be in there, and it helps some of the general scratchiness, but it still cuts out. Is this just a bad pot? I already replaced it once, but (long story short) probably not with as good of a quality pot as the others are now, which still work fine.

And a site note, the tone knobs don't work at all..... long story why I let this fly. Basically, my guitar wasn't working at all when I tried to replace everything myself, and so I just gave it to someone else to do, and when I got it back, no tone knobs. But I didn't complain because at least it was working, and I never use them anyway. So I suppose if the other pot just doesn't work, then I could try switching it out with one of the tone pots I don't use. But if any of you have a better idea what my problem could be, that would be great.

Weird. Have you checked all your wiring/solder joints?

Uh, no.

This actually all went down last year sometime. The volume pot was working fine then, but because the original pot I bought died on me (I think I shorted it out), he had to replace it with a different one, and I don't think it was that good of quality, so now it's already crapping out on me.

Sounds to me i think id just replace all the pots there not to expensive either so its worth a shot. also if you do use a soldering pencil not a gun cause they gun doesnt put the heat into one spot so it will demagnatize your pickups and can aslo over heat a pot and destroy it really easy.

Yeah, just seems to me that your pot is dead.

As for the tone knobs, you should check the wiring against a schematic.
