View Full Version : gone are my Danos

My board has only three pedals now. I took the two danos off, chorus and eq. My Memory man has chorus and I never really used the eq, the thought was practical but not really applicable to what I was doing. I'm still getting a phaser, either the MXR 180, Electro Harmonix Small Stone, or Maxon's tone Phase. If I could only afford Mooger Fooger's or Lovetone's phasers.
After all of this, my setup will be all tube and all analog, except for one guitar that has EMGs in it.
Anywho, my question is this. Part of me got rid of those two pedals simply because they were mini Danos. I bought them on impulse, and to my surprise they work and sound great. But the simple fact that my other pedals gave them lofty and scornful stares was enough to seperate them. Is this wrong? I still will talk good about them and give them they're due respect. Maybe like 20 yrs from now they will be held as vintage early century tone pedals and then they will be among their vintage peers. But for now, they will remain in my closet.
thank you for 2 years of meritorious service, Danos.

He does, however, use the Tuna Melt Tremolo and the Hash Browns Flanger. I wouldn't know what Derek uses because I don't follow them that closely, but Third Day I'm positive about. I've seen Brad's entire gear list and that one's not on it.

P.S. I also think you're missing the point... He got rid of the Dano's because they were *DIGITAL*. He wanted an all-analog board....removing them had nothing to do with whether or not they were vintage. Digital degrades your signal...that's a known fact. Every "generation" that the signal goes through (i.e. Pedal) loses some quality.

What about the t.c. Electronic Parametric Eq, or the Carl Martin Parametric, etc. I don't think the Danelectro would hold up to them. They are the real best pedal Eqs!

And the Dano is a Graphic not a paramatic (parametric?).

In self defense, yes, brent is correct. I was trying to achieve an all analog set-up, and I have.. But I have found an interestig use for the eq; it is a quick fix for my martin which has no internal electronics and I mic or use a soundhole pickup. The chorus is bit harsh, but I'll keep it as a spare.
What do you guys think of those Phasers though.
I personally like phase better than Flange, just a preference.
www.musictoyz.com rocks, they have a lot of sound files.

second spelling was correct
It' sad that your other pedals are discriminating against the poor little danos.... They did'nt do anything to wrong! (except being *digital*)
I have a dream! A dream that one Day, Danelectro and Lovetone will share the same space on a dirty floor! I have a dream! A dream that multi-fx unitz will be just as good as singles! TRUE Bypass! O True Bypass Thank God almighty, I've got TRUE BYPASS!!!

That and the many pictures I have seen....the video that used to be in Musician's Corner...the Offerings Experience DVD...etc. etc. Only a yellow and a reddish-brown Dano pedals in his setup and those correspond to the ones listed in that Bio. No dark green Fish n' Chips ever seen in his setup.
