As for the question... It would depend on the song. If it's one of their songs that could be easily 'figured out' by the older folks in the church, then sure. By that I mean one that has an obvious message that can be related to God and not a vague, watered-down message that you have to think really hard about to get it. Some of Jars of Clay's newer stuff is more like that...hard to figure out easily...which is why I'm a fan of their self-titled album the most.

snap case: that was my main readon for starting this thread--the other one kinda ticked me off when it got closed (and no, I had never posted in that thread). I think that the super mod thing went to somones head! I believe that some debate is good on message boards--Freedom of speech dude!

Oh well---

Wow...it's not like I'm here reading what you're saying about me or anything...

Debating whether or not someone is a Christian when they've openly said so is pointless and is essentially a slap in their face because you're basically saying that they lied. That's why it was closed the first time. The second time it was closed it got a smart comment from SnapCase which promptly got it deleted because fair warning was given. End of story. If you're going to talk about me then do it privately. Nothing "went to my head". I was given my position and it's a position of authority that is even above the other mods, so someone opening a thread that I had closed already is just as much a slap in the face as telling someone who said they were a Christian that they're lying...just as the thread was doing.

Yes but my point was that you can't make that call. Whether you agree with it or not is pointless. You can't close a thread because you disagree with the thread. YOu close it when it has reached the standards of what is stated in the Moderator Guidelines. And you certainly don't delete it.

my original opinion is just that threads should not be closed just becasue one person lets their "position" go to their head. you didnt have to participate in that thread--just let the others that might have wanted to participate. I think it was the comment that I am the Super Mod appointed by Mickey so I have the right to delete anything anywhere comment that you made that boke the straw for me. Cocky I guess! Just my 2 cents anyway!

It had reached those standards...it was inappropriate! Questioning someone's statement of faith is in appropriate....that's calling them a liar. That's what was being done. *I* deemed it inappropriate....mods are assigned to be mods to save Mickey the trouble of doing all the work. They are to use their own judgement and that's what I did. Again, end of story.

That's why I said that...not because anything was going to my head. I figured the question above my post that I was answering would have told you why I was saying that

I still don't agree with it, but I'm going to drop it.

To all,
Enough. We don't need threads discussing whether a moderator was right or wrong in a particular action. Take it up with Brent directly or with Mickey or Kelly.
