This one could be hard because there are so many awesome ones to choose from! My favorite is probably If I Stand. I love it because singing with it is llike a prayer to God. Rich was on fire for Jesus!

I don't know about all of you guys, but I can't vote for just one song. We're talking about probably the most inspirational and talented songwriter of all time. This man was a songwriting genious, and I cannot think of just one song of his that I liked the most, because every one of them has touched me in some form or fashion, with one not really doing anything more than the other one. I really miss having him here to write more songs like that, but I know that God was ready for him, and that's something that is really hard to come to terms with. However, I must remember to not be selfish, and I know that I am glad that God gave us Rich Mullins for the time that we had him. Well, I guess that's my two cents. You all have a wonderful day.

Yeah, I agree with Stephen. I love all the songs listed. I played and sang "Hard to Get" in church. He just had this soothing approach to Jesus' life and he really brought it into a reality that I could relate to. "Elijah" is another favorite of mine. I have a lot of emotional attachment to his music. I really believe the Holy Spirit drew me closer to God through his music. It's a cryin' shame that he's gone and left us, but I guess everyone has their time. He was the kinda guy who, after you listened to his music, you just felt like dropping you nets and following Jesus. I really believe he portrayed Him that well with his lyricism. The only other musician who gave me that feeling was Keith Green. Christian music is wonderful in many ways, but it often falls short of being instrumental in a change of heart. For me though, Rich's music was and always will be great.

I'm sure he's writing songs in heaven right now, and we'll get to hear them when we get there! :)

a-77: you are absolutely right. i'm sure he is. that just makes me smile. i can't wait to hear them! :) why doesn't anyone talk about rich on these boards? i think he's awesome. even though he has moved on to a better place, his music still lives on with us here. does anyone have "the jesus record", the one released after his death? i love that album. "my deliverer" is an amazing song, probably my favorite at this moment. the last one on that album is another one of my faves, classic rich. i'm sure rich is up there singing his praises to our Awesome God at this very moment.

I love all of Rich's songs.... my favorite one varies based upon what mood i'm in. I still break down and weap every time i think of all that man did to devote his life to God and read the lyrics to his songs like "Hold me Jesus," "Ready for the Storm," and my current favorite... "If i Stand."
I feel one of my biggest losses in life was not becoming a Rich Mullins fan untill after God called him home, for this man truely knew how to worship.
I feel tears coming now just thinking about his love of ppl and his savior.

My vote is for Calling Out Your Name because of its wonderful lyrics. Doesn't the beauty of creation call out the name of God? Another song that really touched me recently was If I Stand because of the line, "If I weep let it be as man who is longing for his home". Well, he got what he wanted. What a man of God!

My most favorite song has got to be "Nothing is Beyond you" demo version. Also, co-writer Tom Booth does a version on his album Cry the Gospel that's like a finished version of the demo. Real simple, just piano.
Rich Mullins has been a wonderful inspiration to my life :)

I really like bound to come some trouble, I am not that big of a rich mullins fan but I bought the book about him and it came w/ a cd that had some songs on it, and that was one of them. One thing that kinda bugs me about him( no offense) is that if he had been wearing his seat belt he might still be alive, thats just like being kind of careless I guess, not that I am saying he's a bad guy at all I am just saying, WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!! ( at least thats what the book said happend)

being my favorite artist, Rich has tons of songs I'd put on my short list of favorites....I think if it came straight down to pure writing and lyrics, I'd have to go with Calling Out Your Name, if it came straight down to musical composition, I might have to go with Creed, and if it came down to both together, I'd take Peace, Elijah - the old version, none of this watered-down Songs version business, Calling Out Your Name, or I'll Carry On

I chose HOLD ME, JESUS becuase i thinks those words are so powerful. but step by step would be a close second
also, sometimes i forget to wear my seat belt too, no big deal

Well, I'd made my vote on this some time ago...I can't remember which one I ended up going with, but I think I have a new one, and its probably one a lot of y'all have never heard of.....its called 'If I Could Make It Work' and its off the album 'The Canticle of the Plains'
How many times do things work out in paper or in theory so much better than they do in life, and how many times do we wish it was the other way? Going further, where would we be if it did work that way?
Its a very simple musical composition as far as production is concerned....about 10 tracks, and about 4 of those are vocal, but I love it that way, and the lyrics are killer...this song is 'a four cent nickel for a dime store theif, but it sure reads good'

I can't pick just one....all his songs are incredible. As someone said before, he truly was a genious. His lyrics are so awesome! :D If I had to pick though, I'd probably vote for "Hold Me Jesus" 'cause the first time I heard that song, I almost cried, it's sooo beautiful. :) Rich's was my 1st favorite CHristian Artist. And he's still my favorite:D :yep:

I didn't vote, 'cuz there's too many! I really, really like "Sometimes by Step," "Hold me, Jesus," "Sing your Praise to the Lord," "Hope to Carry On," and "Awesome God." There are lots of others, too, though, and if I listed them all, I'd probably list almost all the Rich Mullins songs I know.
It will be so cool to see him in heaven!!

Just wanted to say that I had the oportunity to befriend Rich while I was at Friends U... which he attended for a few years. He was quite a character, usually quiet, but when you talked to him, he was very open and thoughtful. We were "competitors", at one point because he was working on his piano skills and we sometimes played the same pieces. He was definitely well rounded, because he could play many instruments, and it just amazed me. It was a very sad time to know he had died from in the car accident, but I believe it brought many people closer to God and to each other. He definitely didn't leave this earth without delivering God's message!
See you in Heaven Rich!

I just couldn't choose! He really was the most sensational songwriter ever. It's as if God helped him write them! It really is a shame he's no longer with us here but I think that God thought that his songs were so powerful and he'd done so much for those worse off than him, that he deserved a place in heaven!

He was a gre and talented songwriter and is greatly missed.
I would have to say my favorite song by him is "Awsome God".
That song just says it like it is.
Our God is an Awsome God,
He reigns from Heaven above,
With Wisdom, Power, and Love,
Our God is an Awsome God...
There is no question about it.
I have loved that song for as long as I can remember
