Hey all,
This is my first visit to the vocal board (I think)!
I love to sing (only thing musical I can do well), but I have a really unusual voice. My have a mid-low range (don't know the tech. terms!), so, in turn, many of the praise songs we sing at church are too high for me. I often strain my voice to hit notes other people have no problem with--sometimes with very painful or nauseating results.
Any tips on improving my vocal range?
Also, I LOVE punk music, and a lot of the lyrics I've written lately are in more of the punk style (punk love songs rock!). IF I were to start a punk band and sing in it, how could I strengthen my voice for that. Contemporary stuff (Jars of Clay, Sonic Flood, etc.) and lighter rock (Audio A, etc.) are more my vocal style. SO, what can I do to prep myself for some punk vocals (even if I just had a couple songs in that style). I guess this can also fit with the vocal range, but it's also a completely different style than I'm used to.
