I am Swedish, but haven't lived there since I was 6. I've been back to visit twice in the last 10 years. Anyway, I would love to hear from anyone over there! goosegg

sniff sniff. Okay, I'm over it. Thanks for the offer to be an honorary Kiwi, I think I would rather eat the fruit and stick with the old red, white, and blue. I'd love to come visit though!

Well I guess I'm a little late answering.. but yes I'm a Swede. Half Swede anyway, but I do live in Sweden so I considerer myself Swedish.

Guslind, yes you count! But, have you ever been to Sweden?
Eowyn, you are definitely not too late! I have some great friends that live in Linkoping. She was my childhood friend in Stockholm and then came over to the US and lived with us for a year during high school. I was there in Linkoping visiting her and her family just a few years ago. I loved it!!!! We went to this neat farm place that had a reconstructed Swedish town that you could walk through with lots of shops with people wearing period clothing and they had animals and a playground. It was great! I look forward to talking more about Sweden:)

Sure any time!

I've only lived in Linköping 6 months. I moved here to start studying at the University. ----but I love it here. Sweden is a great country, and you start appreciating it more after you've been away for a while.

I'm from Sweden aswell... I'm actually Éowyns sister, so I'm also only a half Swede (American mother). I haven't been writing much on this board, but couldn't resist posting when I saw my sister had posted ;)

Guslind, yes you count! But, have you ever been to Sweden?

yeah!

yeah, i went in '97 to Stockholm. my grandparents took me to see the place where they do the nobel prise and the big viking boat. there were lots of bridges and ferry boats. It was pretty cool, but i don't remember too much more cuz it was at the end of the trip and i was only 13.

So ya, I'm a quarter Swedish. My dad's dad came from Minnesota (Minneso-der) after his family moved there from Sweden. I've got the name for it too, Gustaf Lindgren. So there ya go!

Gus, you definitely have a way cool Scandinavian name. I was just in Stockholm 2 years ago showing my kids the Wasa ( viking ship) and the place where they give the nobel peace prize. I doubt if they will remember much either cause they were alot younger than you were. We have lots of pictures though!!! Glad to have another Swede around!

Hey, how many of you are blonde haired and blue eyed? I am and I'm just curious. :)

Hi Eomer! Glad you posted too! It would be wrong to be outdone by a sister :o). I know this because I have a little sister. The problem is that she is alot bigger than me, but I'm still older!! She is my best friend though.

Eowyn, I hope your studies are going well. What type of nursing are you working on? My friend Lotta is a nurse in a delivery ward at a hospital somewhere near Linkoping. I'll have to ask her what the name is. I forget. She loves delivering babies!

Well I'm not blond or blue eyed, but a red head with dark brown eyes. But I guess that's from the American part of the family...

Just to make things clear here... I'M OLDER THAN EOMER!!! He is taller, and we're only a year apart in age, but I have to uphold my part as his BIG sister.

I've just started on my nurses training, so we haven't had to specialize yet. But I'm intrested in emergency care and relief work, so that's what I'd like to do in the future. Your friend Lotta, if she is working in Linköping it would have to be at the University Hospital. I don't think they have a delivery ward anywhere else.

Sorry Eowyn. I don't know why I thought you were the younger one. We older short people must stand firm over bigger younger siblings!! It's a tough battle sometimes, but it must be done!
Just kidding. Sortof. ;)

Thanks about my name! It's funny how easily people mess it up. Substitute teachers always say GOO-stAHf Lin-DRIN. It used to make me SO MAD! lol Now I just smile and shake my head.

I was really blonde when I was younger, but it darkened as I got older. I got hazel eyes. I'm half German so that mixes in a lot I think, but it's from both sides. The rest of me's a mix - a little English, French, etc.

Yeah, I've got some Heinz 57 in me too:) -a tiny bit of Scottish, English, and even American Indian. Believe it or not, my grandmother 13 generations back was Pocahontas. My dad had the black hair and dark eyes, but my Swedish mother's blonde hair and blue eyes came through strong with my brother, sister and me!

Hey! I'm a quarter Swedish & a quarter Norwegian (the other half consists of Irish, English, Dutch & German). All my family on the Norwegian side and not quite as many on the Swedish (except for one aunt & one cousin) have blonde hair and blue eyes. It's kinda funny, but yes I have blonde hair and blue eyes. :) My Grandpa from Sveden (:)) actually has very dark skin and brown eyes. And my Norwegian Grandpa has red hair. Rather odd. But sadly, I've never been to either Sweden or Norway.
Happy to see y'all!

Yey! Our numbers are increasing! For awhile there I thought I was the only one
Welcome Beth! My little sister was born in Norway. Her name is Elisabeth. Hope you can visit there and Sweden someday. They are such beautiful countries!

I hope I can visit there sometime too. My Great-grandma goes to Norway sometimes to visit semi-distant relatives, so maybe I'll get to go with her someday. That's cool that your sister was born in Norway. Does she have duel citizenship then?

goosegg

No, our birth certificates say "US citizen born abroad." We could have had duel citizenship I suppose, but our parents decided to keep it simple. Hey, who is or was Soren Kierkegaard? The name sounds familiar and is definitely Scandinavian, but I can't think of who it is. Hope you had a great day! Goose

Soren Kierkegaard was a Danish philosopher who is considered the father of the movement called existentialism. He was also a Christian but opposed to the state churh in Denmark.

Searh for Kierkegaard and you will find lots on him, or look him up in an encyclopedia.
