Sorry to say this, but when Cliff's wife Danielle is singing with Caedmon's Call, I think it would be more interesting to just plop a mannequin on the stage.

She has the personality of a cold fish and the animation level of Steven Wright on barbituates.

She is so lucky to be married to Cliff and be in Caedmon's Call; she ought to just think about that and at least smile once or twice.

Instead, she makes me feel guilty that she even had to drag herself onto the stage even though I paid $$$ for the ticket.

Granted, she was pregnant when I saw her in concert, but a little enthusiasm about praising the Lord would be nice!

Does anyone see what I am talking about here? Or are you guys just going to try and score points with the women in this place and feign disagreement with me?

yeah, i know what you're talking about. apparently, she used to be really good live. i saw them for the first time in august and she was really stiff. but she does still have a great voice!

though i haven't seen Caedmon's in concert recently, being a worship leader and one who has to be on stage no matter what you're going through....i've realized that everyone--rock stars and all--go through crappy times. maybe that's what's going on here. the christian walk isn't all plateau...it's ups and downs. pray for her maybe?

I've seen them three times and I'd have to agree...Danielle is pretty boring on stage. I acutally had more fun paying attention to Garrett and Josh in the back than any of the people (Cliff, Derek, and Danielle) up front. Still a great show, but Danielle could be a bit more animated.

danielle hasn't shown me much in the stage presence category...and honestly I'm just starting to like her voice. It's okay...she needs to retire and I need to join anyway...eh?

yeah ashley, something like that! :p actually, what i found the most fun was watching derek and josh make faces at each other and laugh their heads off on the songs that derek wasn't singing. the 2 of them together are hilarious

it's caedmon's call for crying out loud!!!!! they're a folk band.... what do you want her to do, start crowd surfing?

*steps off her soap box*

yeah, i see your point but that's just kinda how they are.

hmmm...danielle crowd surfing...now there's an idea! :p haha, that would be the day! she just seemed like she was really bored and she had better things to do. i have bootleg copies of the concert from the guild weekend this year and they include all the time between songs. i never once heard her say anything to anybody, even though the rest of the band and everybody else was talking up a storm. in my oppinion, danielle needs to quit and they need to replace her with derek's wife, sandra mccracken!

she doesn't really do much. i would be bored too with 5 other members of the opposite sex and singing like 3 songs. wasn't she pregnant too? idunno. sandra would be great with them haha, derek and sandra are great together....hmmmmm he should split off from caedmon's after their new album and go solo! hmmmmm...i think we's abouto see the end of the greatest christian band of all time!hehe

you totally stole my point #2!! i thought about that after i had already posted... how she's the only girl. i get kinda quiet too whenever i jam with he boys. it's like i feal that it's not my place to stick out whenever i already stick out in the first place. for the most part she's just a backup singer, anyways. so it would be kinda wierd for her to suddenly start sticking out. not that there would be anything wrong with it, it just might be a little awkward for her.

yep.

yeah, that makes sense except that she's been the only chick in the band for like 10 years. i mean, she's used to them now. ya know?

never had the oppertunity to see them, but my ex is a huge fan of theirs and says she's like that, and a friend of mine at school told me the same thing (which happened a couple years before she was pregnant). at least get a tambourine or something and look like youre doing something LoL

actually it wouldn't bother me too much if the band did break up, as long as Derek Went solo, or teamed up with his wife, i love the two songs i've heard by them (Come Thou Long Expected Jesus, and To Make You Feel My Love(i think)) they do a great job, but it wouldn't bother me if cliff and danielle went solo either, i like both of their voices too, yeah so she doesn't move around a whole lot, i still like her voice, especially as a backup to cliff and/or derek, but her solo voice isn't bad either...

first--

danielle is very shy. i've known the members of caedmon's call for many years, and danielle is not talkative off stage. she is the nicest person you will ever meet, and a great singer. she is PART of the band and has been for 10 years. you don't just throw her out and replace her with someone else because she doesn't have 'stage presence.' if you want to see a show, i suggest you try getting tickets for britney spears.

second- derek webb and sandra mccracken (his wife) have no intention of becoming a husband and wife musical duo. they each have their own musical careers, and neither one wants to be labeled like sonny and cher or something.

just wanted to throw those ideas in, since some of you seem pretty bent on criticizing.

So glad you added your thoughts, nameless unregistered user. I, too, think Danielle's presense in the band is one of the most unique things about them. My husband is always joking around about how she's not that much fun to watch onstage, but when you can sing like that, and create such unbelievable harmonies with your fellow singers... I'm not sure a big visual show is necessary. I saw them in concert recently and was close enough to see that--while she wasn't jumping around or anything--she definitely did smile a lot and seem to be enjoying herself. It's kind of sad that we live in a culture where your talent has to be supplemented with some overbearing theatrics to be appreciated.
Personally, I love Danielle's voice, as a solo or with Cliff's and/or Derek's. And the idea of replacing her (even with the incredible Sandra McCracken) makes my stomach roll.

Why does everyone seem to think that Derek should leave? He doesn't reside in the same city as the rest, right? so he is able to do his own stuff but he is still part of the band! no reason AT ALL for him to leave.

Also, i saw them in concert in nov. and Danielle wasn't too lively then either, but i did notice her laugh at some things either derek or cliff said to her. also, she may just not feel like she wants to have a huge part in all that goes on on stage. All of us say that they are a great band, so why are we nitpicking at stupid stuff?
