Does anyone know of any cool effects and processors for the acoustic guitar??? I was just curious if there were any out there.

Boss makes a few.... I think they're the AD-3 and AD-5. They basically do feedback suppression, chorus, and reverb.

I don't play guitar... and I've never tried them. However, I have experience with Boss and Roland gear and have always found it to be of the highest quality available. Roland/Boss is certainly one of the best manufacturers out there when it comes to effects.

Assuming you have an amplifier .... there are a variety of effects that you can choose from - most of them you will not need. My favorite effect for the acoustic is a Chorus. They're fairly inexpensive. Add to that a graphic Equalizer. Anything else would interfere with the inherent tonal quality of the acoustic guitar. Of course .... so will a really bad amp, el-cheapo strings, and a guitarist who really can't play very well.

A compressor will help even levels between strumming and picking.

And I can't forget my number one favorite "effect" in the world-Reverb!

Also there are times when delay can come in handy.

I have a ZOOM 504 II that I like very well. It dosent have the super duty metal casing like a BOSS but it sounds good and has more progammable effects. Plus it's about a third of the cost of the BOSS unit. Mars and Guitar center usually sell them for about $89.99 One thing I REALLY like about it is a setting that tones down the brightness when you use acoustic guitar through an amp designed for electric guitar pickups.

I know a guy who has a processor that works Acoustic & Electric, and does all sorts of effects(can even design your own) and it was around $250. I think most Processors are actually generic. You just got to make sure that if your using Acoustic, that you have an Acoustic Amplifer(thats the key)

What exactly does "Delay" sound like/do?

Haha... great explanation, Unregistered! :D

Yeah.. basically, it just takes your original sound and plays it back at some set interval.

I use Boss pedals for chorus (CE-5) and compression (CS-3). They're indestructable and they do well what they're designed to do.

Yahama's got a new stomp box out called the Stomp AG that I've heard is an awesome mic-modeling preamp. You can take a piezo acoustic-electric and get pretty darn close to the sound of a mic'd guitar. Also has built-in delay and chorus. Though I've read you can only use one of those effects at a time.

My interest in the Stomp AG is bordering on covetousness.

if you want super fluid chorus try the TC Electronic Chorus Pedal

it's really amazing what you can get and how imersive the sound is. it will put quite a dent on your wallet but even if you can't afford to put $400 into a chorus pedal, you should try it anyway just so you can know what a really nice chorus pedal can sound like.
