Through a series of stupid mistakes on my part, there were about 50-100 songs deleted from my Ipod. I'm looking to make a playlist that would gather them all so I can shove it all back on after some searching through my CD's. Does anyone know how I can get a playlist to do this? Is there another program that could do something like this, like EphPod? Thanks for any help offered.

a smart palylist perhaps? isn't there an option for songs added after a certain date or something?
i'm not 100% sure of what you're asking as well.

Alright, there are some songs that are missing from my computer but are in the iTunes library, and so they have the cute little ! next to them. I want a playlist of that, except for for my iPod instead of iTunes.

well the exclamation point means they aren't found by itunes. there my be a way to sort them, try clicking the column the exclamation point is in, that might put them all in one spot on your library.
it might be easier to came at this from the opposite angle, and find any easier way to find out what songs aren't gone.

EDIT: oh, and what ipod do you have, and how much space has been used up?

Ok put your songs onto your playlist that are missing.

Now when hook your ipod to the computer and when it shows in itunes grab and drag the playlist into the ipod and that should do it. :D

I've got a 30GB Ipod with about 20.82 gigabytes used. It used to be around 22 GBs, until I messed up trying to back all the files up and accidentally got rid of a few. So yeah, I can get the music back, I just need to know which one it is.

PS. The music, for the most part, is no longer on my computer or the external drive I shoved it into.

um, no, the exlcamation point means that itunes can't find the song, and when itunes can't find a song, it can't put it on you ipod. i figured a mac guy like you would know that.
beyer, do you have a disk utility that lets you recover deleted files? that might be the easist potential fix.

so you still have the files, but itunes simply can't find them? just do an import of the files into itunes. ought to take care of everything.

If the music isn't on your iPod, internal hard drive on your computer, or your external hard drive (in other words you're saying that the files are deleted completely and you want to recover them), first check the recycle bin (an obvious first place to look). If they aren't there, are you running Windows or OSX? If you're running OSX, a program like DiskWarrior or Data Rescue II should work if you cleaned your recycle bin and lost the files. But, depending on the amount of time since you cleaned the recycle bin and the amount of files you may have added to your hard drive since then, there's a good chance these programs won't work either, and the files will be lost forever.

If by chance they are still backed up somewhere on some hard drive, then all you need to do is set iTunes to automatically update your iPod every time you connect it to your computer. Then everything (files and playlists) that is in your iTunes Library will be synced up to your iPods files, so the files that are missing from your iPod will be replaced with no problem. This is how I manage my iPod and it works great. If you don't want some files to be transferred, just make sure the option to only transfer checked songs over, then uncheck the ones you don't want transferred. Really simple.

OK, I deleted them DIRECTLY from my Ipod. I also save no music and it is cleared almost immediately. I am also a PC guy, not Mac, though its sounding better and better constantly.

From what I gather, you just want to have a list of songs that are missing. Right?

If that's so, you're not in luck. iTunes currently doesn't offer a way to do that. You might just have to handpick them. You can handpick them and add them all to a playlist if you want.

Is there any order as to how they're missing? Are they all from certain artists or something?

So why exactly do you need a playlist of all the missing songs put ON your iPod? You should be able to easily create a playlist of all the missing songs within iTunes by dragging each listing with the "!" next to it into a new playlist. You can then print the playlist out from iTunes. Seeing as having a playlist of non-existent songs on your iPod isn't going to do anything for you, I can only assume that the reason you want it on there is just so you have it with you to look through CD's or something? You can accomplish that just as easily with a printed list.

You said you were running Windows, so I doubt you can run Applescripts, but this is exactly what you need.

I saw that in a Google search last night. The Windows version of iTunes doesn't support Applescript.

All I can say is just drag all your missing files into a playlist and go from there.
