Yeah I've played 4 years and just started teaching myself bass. French horn rules.

I've been playing horn since the fall of '93. Right now I'm studying with Philip Stanton of the Houston Symphony and have 17 students of my own. I enjoy playing it quite a bit, although I've been playing a lot of bass lately, also.

Dude! Me too! I think that would be mostly because I get nervous around other peeps when I think i suck. I've played horn for six years, have been singing basically all my life, teaching myself guitar (acoustic, elec., and Bass) and I currently have a drum set downstairs... but it's missing the splash, crash and ride (cymbals)! Cool. Talking about music rocks. :teeth:

I play the horn, and I love it! I switched from alto sax, because, well, I just got bored with playing sax. I think horn is a lot more fun, and they always get the "moose-calls" and stuff, which makes it awesome. The only part I don't like about it is the marches though. They get the same rhythm everytime.

Switching was probably the smartest thing you could have done...Horns rule. :clap: I agree that the marches really do suck, but you gotta bear with it- the rhythmic section is very important- especially if your percussionists tend to rush or drag. lemme guess, you get the offbeats (the "chic" part to go with the "boom")? I'm curious, what have been some of your fave pieces?

Ahhhh, I love the horn!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a Horn Performance major. It has to be the most glorious sounding instrument of them all! I get to play my horn all day in school, i love it.
