I never liked he Beatles.
I do, however, love what they started. If it weren't for them, most bands we know (if not all) would not exist.

Well, to be honest, I didn't even know who that guy was. As much as the Beetles influenced Rock n Roll, I don't really know very much about them. I'm into more of the modern rock scene, going back not much farther than the 80's.

Rethinking some stances on Harrison. Though he was not a Christian, he acknowledged that there is a God. He made a poor choice...his fault...no. Our fault as Christians...yes. Please undertand that the question posed was how do you feel about the passing of Harrison as a icon. I can not believe that someone put they didn't like him because of his belief. Jesus didn't even slam people for what they did or did not believe, he told them the truth in love while showing them that no matter what, he accepted them. Without Harrison and the Beatles we would not have Delirious or any of the other cool hip, trendy worship songs on Sunday mornings. They made music what it is today. Understand that. From what i have read about him, he was a good man, but unfortunately died apart from God. All that should be remembered is his talent and love for music. It is obviously a gift given to him by God. He wasn't evil, so lets not take away from his life by slamming him in death. How do we want to be remembered?
A Beatles fan.

Does this mean that you will not befriend anyone that isn't a Christian? It is so important to make friends with people outside the faith so that they can see God in you! How else are you going to tell people about Him? Let me remind you that even Jesus hung out with "sinners" (I put quotes because we are all sinners, however, I mean the drunks, thieves, etc.) So please take some time and pray for the ability to go out of your comfort zone and spread the good news! :)

I have always thought the Beatles rock! They will always be a great band to me. I was sad when I heard that George had died. :(

The Beatles were the greatest rock band ever! Other bands have rocked harder, or played their instuments better, but no band since has matched the Beatles', versatility, songwriting ability, and studio genius.
I was saddened by George's death, because I don't believe he ever acknowleded the one true God.

I like the Beatles, in fact I think they were one of the best rock bands ever, not because they're the most talented or even had the best music, but because they were the first real rock band (in my opinion) and have influenced just about all rock music that's ever existed.

the beatles were one of the best bands ever (its impossible to say one band is the best), and produced the most significant music. And to limit the music you listen to is not too smart, since most of the best music was made before the 80's anyway.
George Harrison was a hard working guy, not naturally talented, but had to put in lots of practice to achieve what he did. He wasn't proud, bowing to Eric Clapton's superior guitar skills on My Guitar Gently Weeps. He financed one of my favourite films The Life of Brian, and inspired me to pick up the guitar. He made mistakes, took the wrong path in life, but also layed the foundation for many people to give us what we love.
Sorry for the lecture, but I love the guy. And the Beatles.

Ooh, I disagree... as far as Beatles songs go, Yesterday wins... I cry every time I hear the Beatles version of it because it has such a real heart to it.

First of all, from what I gather, The Life of Brian is a Monty Python movie that mocks the life of Christ...now...to George Harrison...
George Harrison.....youngest member of the beatles...reason beatles were deported from Germany when they were starting up...The Beatles were probably the biggest impact on Rock and Pop music...I don't care that much for the Beatles, but I must respect their MUSICAL impact (emphasis on music because of the religious beliefs of the members)....The Beatles laid way for chord progressions, real lyrical value, and other sections of rock music...George Harrison apart from the Beatles....terrible (sorry, but that's just my opinion)
That's it....

I don't like them
nothing personal but it's just that they were a band. A band that was way before my time and I feel that would drive me nuts if I had to listen to them. Again nothing against them personally I just don't lik e their sound. And even with their laying the groundwork so to speak... I could care less. So I find it funny that everyone in the news media covered it in one way shape or form. Talk about boring news.
Again nothing personal but they weren't that hot. (InMyOpinion)

Might be
I just don't like their style. And to give you an idea of my likings of classic rock. I think it sucks. I can't stand it.
"can't appreciate them" well I might feel different if I saw any way that they were so greatly/directly involved with the music I like. You want to call me crazy go right ahead...

I do not wave a Beatles flag nor own more than 2 of their CDs, but I feel it somewhat necessary to like them just because I am a musician. Everytime a Beatles song is played on TV (usually on commercials or on movies) I sing along. They have great music. Very influential to what music is today... and everyone that dislikes people just because they are non-Christian- that is a very non-Christian thing to do.

spose so. I was rather astounded last night though. In our bible study we got round to chatting about the Beatles, and George Harrison's death came up. One of the guys in the group didnt know who he was. This guy can play most of what George did, and does so with annoying regularity, but didnt even know he was a Beatle. Wow.

give me a break. he was not the leader of any new age reformation! that's stupid. i mean, he was into that stuff, but he was a really great musician, isn't that all that matters?
Well hello there 3 year old thread. How are you doing today?

My favorite Beatle. :)
I've been listening to my dad's "Best of George Harrison" CD, and it's really cool. His Beatles and non-Beatles songs are both good! I did a paper on him for school. His religious beliefs were unfortunate, but he was a great musician and seemed to be a nice, unassuming guy.

I have always enjoyed George's voice. It wasn't quite as polished as Paul's or as powerful as John's, but it was sweet. Just listen to him sing Something and tell me that's not one of The Beatles' finest moments.
