It can be from any period (Romantic, Baroque, etc, etc)..... just tell us what your favorite classical piano song to listen to is.... AND your favorite classical piano song that you can play........ (hope that made sense)

Ok.... my favorite is Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, my favorite one that I can play is probably Mozart's Turkish Rondo (Rondo alla Turca)

Well??

Heya,

I've looked a tad bit..not very much since I cant read sheet music, I've seen the sheet music for another really good song, "Aeris's Theme" from FF7. I saw it at www.rpgamer.com in the music section. They didnt have Terra's Theme, but Im sure another web site does.

WOW!! I really like it (Terra's Theme) I just found some sheet music for it too.... it looks like it was scanned out of a songbook, so I'm guessing it's correct. :D

Anyway..... got any other suggestions for good neo-classical piano stuff??

I got all excited when I saw "favorite classical song"...but favorite classical piano song? That's a different story

It would probably have to be a good pianist on a good arrangement of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" I have no clue why I love this song so much, but I do.

And to play? ha! If i had my way, I would get the chord charts along with the sheet music to everything so I could make my own stuff up.

LAtely I've been listening to a song called "Variations on Canon in D" by David Lanz. It's 11 minutes long and live in concert. It's really good.

Cool. I have two different versions of Cannon in D, one's like 7 min long, and the other's about 5...that's such a neat piece!

Chopin's Fantasie-Impromptu is up there! My fave to play these days is Brahms... one of the Intermezzi Op.118 (number two right now!)...

I really like Chopin and Debussey...esp. the Raindrop Prelude by Chopin (one of my recent recital pieces) and any of Debusseys more convoluted pieces...seriously he sounds like hewas on some kind of drug while he was writing and it sounds very cool...like Classical mixed w/ Alice in Wonderland :)

I love Terra's Theme in piano. Another good piano piece is Parasites Eve Main Theme in piano.

I also like Cristofori's Dream on the cd of the same name, by David Lanz.

And of course I have a taste for Beethoven's stuff. :D

Coolness, I'll be sure to check it out. Do you happen to know off-hand where I could find sheet music for it???? I could always search for it... but if you already knew a site with it, that would make my search easier! :D

I really love Piano Concerto No. 3 (Opus 30) by Rachmaninoff and a lot of his other stuff. Also Fantasy in D minor (K. 397) by Mozart. i don't like anything that's way repeditive...like non stop eighth or sixteenth notes...most of the time.

i can play a bit of the rachmaninoff and all of fantasy in d minor. :0)

I also like Chopin. My favourite piece(s) is his "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra no.1 in E minor, op.11", this concerto really left me breathless since the first time I heard it 3 years ago, and I never changed my favourites list since then!! It has beautiful Melodies and the piano skill level is absolutely incredible (especially in the 3. Movement).

Unfortunately I can only play part of the 2. Movement, as my skill is not so advanced (yet) ;-)

oh, yeah, the Chopin Concerto is one of my faves too. You should check out the recording by Zubin Mehta and Murray Perahia (I think it's by Sony, could be wrong.) It's the best recording I've heard of it yet. It's great.
I can only play a bit of the second mov't too, every time I start practicing it, I end up quitting and just putting on the CD, 'cause I can't stand to hear myself butchering it!
