I'm from England. I used to live in Eastbourne, so I've been through HH many times.

Now I'm in Japan, and there isn't much that could make me give up my new home to go back to England! I love it here. :D

heyhey.

dont know if you're still checking this thread but hey...
i'm not from England but I am from Wales, does that count? :) there dont seem to be any more Welshies here :(

Hannah, i was in manchester for new year with friends, I know what you mean about snow!! We travelled back on new years day and I think practically the whole of the country, definitely the midlands anyway, was covered in snow and once we got back into wales it all disappeared, typical. It always does that - nice weather in england then when we pass the "welcome to wales" sign, down comes the rain. Doh.

Anyways. see yas around.

I'm originally from Oldham, near Manchester. I went home for New Year, and I can confirm the snow :)

It also took me 6 hours to travel 200 miles back to the South, which was... less than fun.

I'm living in Swindon at the moment, It's not home, but it'll do.

The picture is of my street in Oldham, my home is the house on the left, with the mucky gold car parked in front :)

Hi Daniel :D

so tell me more about you, people?

I'll get the ball rolling...

Ok well I live nr Cardiff, I'm an A-level student in my final year (chemistry biology and art) and I plan to go to Uni in 2003 after a year out. I have a place at Cardiff uni to study medicine as long as I get the grades this year. I have 2 brothers, one older, one younger. I love to draw and I (try to) play the piano!! Ummm... I'll post a photo on here sometime, when I can find a half-decent one! haha.

Ok, your turns!

PS oh and I love to swim and I enjoy watching rugby (esp when Wales play...)

Cool, Hi Daniel.

My name's David
I live in Haywards Heath, near Brighton, i'm in year 11, ummm...... i love music, i play piano, violin, guitar and bass. 1 brother and 1 sister both younger than me, and i'm very short :D

MariSiān
01-18-2002, 04:17 PM

Ah, GCSE year this year then? Hope all goes well for you... you'll be fine.
I've not heard of Haywards Heath but I've been to brighton while I was at a Christian youth camp held near Swindon not long ago. :)

Oddjob
01-18-2002, 05:02 PM

DanielM

I'm Daniel, I'm 19, 20 on the 1st February. (Getting old! Urk!)..

I'm originally from Oldham, Lancashire. I moved to Cheltenham where I work at the Int. Headquarters of the Elim Pentecostal Church, I do most jobs, ranging from Accounts Assistant/Insurance, to being the IT/Security manager, right down to moving desks around for people.

Being 6ft 1, everyone assumes it's fine to ask you to move furniture, Even man-mountains have pain thresholds *g*

I now live in Swindon, Wiltshire, but still work in Cheltenham at Elim HQ!

I worship at Swindon Elim Pentecostal Church :)

I'm starting an Open University degree in a fortnight, studying Humanities - Art History, Literature, Classical Civilisations, etc.

I play drums in the worship team at Swindon, and also play bass, guitar, and occasionally sing. I have a little solo, secular-ish project, which is just my voice, and my guitar. Nothing special, but it's a wonderful release for me. http://www.danielmills.com

I love writing, art, and all natural creative acts. I used to play rugby, but any chance of furthering that became lost when I snapped my collarbone. Ouch :)

I am an only child.

Umm, Any questions? *s*

Here is me about 3 years ago, I had long hair, and used to sport it in bizarre styles :D

http://www.danielmills.com/DanielGrin.gif

This is my driving license picture, I'd just walked for 25 minutes in torrential rain, I was soaked. I think my less than happy moment was captured quite well! ;)

http://www.danielmills.com/DM2.gif

Here is a picture of my first ever solo show, blurred as to, well, obscure me quite blatantly!

http://www.danielmills.com/DM6.gif

And finally, the most recent picture of me I have..

http://www.danielmills.com/DM7.gif

I shaved my beard off yesterday, to let it grow back thicker and smoother. I also had my hair clippered to a #2 all over, so all facial/head hair can grow back together, and not look unbalanced.

Sadly, my head is cold.

Brr.

:D

AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
I LIVE IN OLDHAM !!!!! I'M IN THE NORTH CHADDERTON AREA NEAR THE PARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!
Wot church did you go to? I have recently started going to Chadderton Congregational. I used to go to St.Herberts RC!!!!!!!
Oddjob, I went to stoneleigh. What week did you go? I went week 2. It was life changing!!!
So you're suffering same as me then? GCSE's are such an inconvenience. What are you doing?
Everyone:
I'm Hannah, I'm 16 and I go to North Chadderton School. I'm 5ft10".
I hope to study Biology,Chemistry, Art and RE at sixth form. I have three sisters and a mum and dad. (obviously!) I play the piano, guitar, clarinet, tenor, alto and Baritone Saxophones. and I'm in a band called Daze on keyboards.

MariSian: My friend was driving home to Manchester from Liverpool he thought he was nearly home when he saw in the distance a huge sign and guess what it said? WELCOME TO WALES! He's always getting lost though so it's no big surprise!

MariSiān
01-20-2002, 11:31 AM
Hannah, thats so funny about your friend driving home - I'm exactly the same with directions!! I dread the day when I have to drive outside of anywhere other than my little town.
They are such good subjects to do at sixth form, seriously. I did art chemistry biology and maths in year 12 for AS. I've dropped maths now for more time to concentrate on the others. Chem is kinda scary at first but it DOES get better i promise. And biol is just so so interesting. As for art... well what can i say? Such a relief subject in amongst all that craziness.

Oh and by the way, there's also a Chruch of God (which I belong to) in Manchester, I've not been to the hall before so I dont know where it is!! Theres one in Liverpool too. I've been there quite a few times but again, if it involves directions, dont ask me!!

I will try to post a pic of me on here soon. When I can find a half decent one! I'm usually the one behind the camera though (thankfully!)

Anyway, cyas.

I'm from Royton! I went to Whitegate End Primary School, then Radclyffe Secondary, then Oldham Sixth Form :)

I love how He made this world big enough for all of us, yet small enough for us all to know each other

I only found salvation in the last, Oooh six months of living in Oldham, I used to go to the Elim Church, just up opposite Keys Music shop in the centre. I've lived away from Oldham for about 18 months now, and I miss it loads. Hmph!

OI! Sherberts rule!
What years were you at whitegate end? My dad taught there for a bit, Mr.Guilfoyle? he played the guitar a lot!
Do you know anyone called Mr.Burtonwood? Music teacher, he's my best mate's dad! You might know two of my mates from church, caroline moss or martin bailey? they're in my band caroline does drums. Ok you won't know martin, caroline is 21 though. Do you know David Pulo? Miss.Fyfe?
So Radclyffe eh? mmm.....North Chaddertonians are way cooler! only kidding!
MariSian: Thanx 4 the reassurance on the subjects! I know what you mean about art! Such a relief to let all that creativity out when you know that you won't get a wrong answer! I'd like to do nursing and midwifery at uni so that should get me through.
Daniel, I'm so worried bout the xams! I'm doing Geography, music,ART,all three sciences, french, maths RE,english, eng lit. What fieldwork are you doing in geog?

DanielM
01-22-2002, 03:04 AM
I was there from, Ooooh, 86/7-ish to, Um, *guessing* '93 ish?

My mother was a teacher there, She still works there doing supply, She's quite reknowned in the area, Your father probably knows/knew her.. Mrs Frances Mills, She taught reception at Whitegate for billions of years :)

Mr. Burtonwood used to be my music teacher! Miss. Fyfe was at Radclyffe when I was there, but I was never in any of her classes.

God bless the secondary school rivaly between Radclyffe and North Chad. :D

Some of the names you mentioned ring bells, but I can't place any of them with faces. It's been so many years!

MariSian you my know my friend Amy. She's from Wales! That's all I know about her though, she's on the Pais team in Oldham. She is so funny and has a cool singing voice! (who hasn't in Wales though!?):o
I've got a blister on my little finger coz I got wax on it when I was doing some Batik work in art today. I'm really proud of my work at the moment. I'm a little apprehensive about ironing it out though. I dearly hope you know what I'm chattin on about!
PS DAVID... When I said Daniel in my previous post I meant you, (about the xams etc. I get confused between the two, don't ask me why!)

And you can call me Mari.
Yes I did batik when I was doing GCSE textiles - its when you have those little funny instruments and pour hot wax over fabric to make patterns isnt it? And then dye the rest of the fabric etc... Its fun. But hot wax, ouch.
Hmmm your friend Amy, does she live in Wales?

Anyway I'll catch ya later.

Ok, Hi, How you doing, good to know that.

i'm not originally from England but its where i live right now so i could more than likely say that england is my new home.

@ the moment i live in Southend-on-Sea, because i havent been all that bothered about reading thru the entire post i dont know if there is anyone else from near by

i play guitar, and a bit of bass and i even know the basics of drumming - but mostly i play the guitar.

i write a lot of lyrics and then i play something that sounds pretty good on guitar and we have a song.
however my vocal skills are worse than an earthworm with a throat infection(at least in my opinion) and that is why i am looking for fellow musos who would be interested in interviewing with me the possibilities of a start in christian based secular rock music - basically what im looking for are people who can play bass, drums, lead guitar and laed vocals (and if any one has a camcorder that wouldnt hurt either)

no, that's right... you turn 16 in year 11, 17 in year 12 and 18 in year 13. I'm 18, and although I technically didn't turn 18 in year 13 because I'd already left school before August 27th of this year, I turned 18 before the cut-off point for year 13 which is Sept 1st. If I had been 5 days younder I would be in year 13 now, doing the final year of my A-levels all over again. Dreaded thought!

hello my name's hannah - i'm from a lil' town called Brasted in Kent! yay.. bacially it's jus a high street full o' antique shops and i think there's a bottle shop and a coupla'pubs and thats all - yes!! What a great place to grow up - actually it wasnt' that bad coz i lived on a farm and farms are the place to be when yoo're a lil' kid coz .. well.. more space and excitment i s'pose!
At the moment i'm in Australia (WA) in another little town (they like to think of it as a city - but with 1980 people.. it's hardly even comparable!) but it does has a cathedral - 2 infact so i guess they have their rights!
Anyway it's got some beaaauuutiful beaches and by coming out here with the fam. i got to skip the ol' GCSE's and A-levels! for the slack australian system - which was quite nice really - i've got my final exams in 4 weeks or so - which i'm both relieved and stressed about - strange combination i know!
Then i'm goin back to england in december and then i guess the world is my oyster for a while atleast!

I thought the world would be my oyster too, the grass always seems greener on the other side doesn't it.

I came to England with the hopes of breezing through A levelsthen going on to do youth work as a proffesion.
As it turns out I got three U's and an E in my A's' thus leaving me with no chance of getting into Any sort of proffesion.

I have now decided to go into Christian based secular rock music as a proffesion.
(I'm gonna start learning scales and reading sheet music 'cos at the moment I play as i'm moved to play)

Do A-levels really matter that much in the scheme of things? I know you need them to go to uni and stuff but surely you can get a good, respectable job without them and work your way up the ladder?

yeah.. there are sooo many ways of gettin into courses n that now that who really cares about school..?? mm... but then again i'm not planning on working.. like 'mainstream' haha.. my work is with God.... and thats where it's gonna stay (thankfully yoo don't need high marks for that).. but i gotta final mark of B in english -woohoooo..(i found out today) which is totally Gods provision.. but yeah a fail in Maths.. ahh well
(australian system is soo strange it's kinda like a cross between a-levels n gcse's.. but not.. heh)

There is, however, a small problem. the problem is that at the moment i work for a well known fast food franchise, AKA - McDonalds and strangely enough finding a full time job as an office junior, AKA - general dog's body, is proving to be quite difficult.

As for my marks well i got U's in Psychology(a subject i was psycho for taking) Sociology(which is strange cos i live in my own society) and English Lit(no comment) but i did get an E in Religious Studies - a subject i enjoyed and found benefitial to me and my everyday life.

I'm from Scotland, but live in England, near Northampton. What a come-down :( Main thing I miss about home is breakfast. Square sausage, Fruit pudding and totty scones =p

I live in Rugby, though I'm originally from the States. That makes me one of those dangerous immigrants the Daily Mail warned you about. I'm a youthworker and school chaplain to one of the CofE comprehensives in Rugby.

I come from the tiny little island of Guernsey (It's on the coast of northern France but we're still British) where we have £1 notes so your wallets don't get too thick. how cool is that!

By the way we're a million times better than Jersey!

Delirious (obvious one), Phatfish/lou fellingham (love her voice), Steve (now no longer together :( ), one hundred hours, corban (simon brading band with their old name). Can't think of any others but they are great!

on another note, i'm living in London now, for uni, some awesome churches around london, im currently at ChristChurch London which is an amazing newish church growing pretty fast and just a great spirit lead church.

Yeah Schneb! What church do you go to in Durham? I'm moving up there for an internship with King's church. And (dweeb) are simply awesome. Great guys and I have the amazing pleasure of gigging with them tonight.

As for UK Christian music: (dweeb), Bosh, Brother John, Verra Cruz, Four Kornerz, errr... Steve were amazing!
