"The Question" is awesome! Emery Rocks!
The vocals are still amazing, and the guitars
just get better. My favorite songs are,
"So Cold I Could See My Breath"
"Returning The Smile You Have Had From The Start"
"The Weakest"
"The Terrible Secret".

I picked up The Question and The Everglow by Mae, and I very much enjoy both of them. I'm not huge on emo, but those are both quality albums for people who like good music.

Emery is just awesome. I ordered The Question a while ago...it's still not here yet :nope:. Anyway, if you go to www.emerymusic.com and go to the site for their first album, you can listen to the entire album (All 10 songs). You can't download it, but you can still listen.

Good band. They went a little more emo on the new cd, maybe because it was a little more vocal centered the their last cd.

The Question is awesome :D I can't really think of any songs that I don't like...besides "In Between Fourth and Second Street" - but that's not even a song, so it doesn't count ^_^

The Question is a boring emo album that sounds just like their first album. I do not like it. Thank God I did not pay money for it.

Well, I'd have to say the first album was more emo... It was also much stronger on the progressive rock influences. the songs on "The Weaks End" are much less structured... they move between different moods and movements like progressive rock songs. "The Question" is so much more cliche-ly structured. Most of the songs fit the mold of Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus-Breakdown/End. However, the music is much catchier on The Question. Some of my friends overplayed The Question though... I've started relistening to the first album and found out why it was so much more emo and relaxing.

Emery isn't emo, emo was genre movement out of punk in the 80's. The bands that people think are emo today are called mall emo or mtv-mo. Actually emo is punk music with lots of yelling and screaming.

The beatles are emo. They started the whole emo movement.

I don't think that Emery has any CDs in CD Reviews. I would give both 10/10.

The Weak's End is, was, and forever will be > The Question. One of my alltime favorite albums.

Both albums are extrememly well done within every facet of the musical experience. The albums are different but good in their own ways. These guys are simply amazing.

No, Johnny Cash invented emo. Haven't you heard "Cry, Cry, Cry"?
The Weak's End is 10/10. The Question is 9/10. Because TWE is more unpredictable. And this is a good thing.

You forgot the end quote. I was being sarcastic about the beatles thing.
I never knew that beatles was spelled different than beetles until I watched the movie That Thing You Do.

They lost their style imo with the Question. It was too mainstream for me. I lost interest after the third track or fourth track. The only song I really liked was the first one, whose name Im too lazy to spell out. On the Weaks End, I loved every single song, which has only happened for like 2 albums for me.

The Question did seem like somewhat of a sell-out for them, style-wise...

I understand why you would think that. However, I still believe that the Question shows a lot of musicianship in each song. I don't believe there is a bad song on either record. They are both great albums that have amazing sounds. I don't really feel like going song by song on The Question, but they are all very good. But that is my opinion and it's bound to be different than somebody's.

Well, the songs on The Question are good songs, I just think it's not as true to what they wanted as The Weak's End was. On The Question, I think they purpously tried to make the songs more catchy and for a wider audience. That just took away from the type of feeling that was present on TWE.

Adam K

Yeah, The Question is way more progressive.

I never said it wasn't more mainstream, I said it was more progressive in it's musical style.

More catchy doesn't equal less true. Emery does a great job of getting across their message in The Question as well as TWE. The feeling in each album may be different, but they are still both great.

Freddie Mercury is a great song with a really great message.

Out of curiosity, just what do you think the message of that song is? Because I've always seen it as a cop-out. "God gave us these abilities, but instead of using them to try to save people, we just want to play music."

Is that what you got out of the song?

I got that we are all the same and no one is a worse sinner than the other.
