Wow...that didn't make much sense. You contradicted yourself totally. You said Ampeg (Made in St. Louis, MO) was the best....but then you went on to say that British amps are the "phatest" when Ashdowns are made in the UK. I don't follow...

P.S. British stuff rawks...I have a VOX T25 bass practice amp that is sweet....but I'd still rather have Eden or Ampeg. :p

I thought the same thing when I saw that...I was even going to post a question...I guess I understand...

My question wan't really which is better, more Does anyone have any experiance with these amps? Right now, I think I would go with the Ashdown, but since I have never tried one...(The specs sure look good, though-300w into a 10" speaker in a very small enclosure...)

The Ampeg just looked interesting. You don't see too many 2x8" bass combos, and since I have a thing for small speakers (Anything over a 12" gets to "flabby" for me) I wondered if it was any good. I have a bad thing with the combo-no extention speaker jack! My original thought was this combo with a 1x12" extension speaker...to bad it won't work!

I guess what I'm looking for is a small, profesional level combo, with lots of power and a good sound. The Ashdown seems very nice, I really want to try one!

I was talkin' just about Vox, not Ampeg. Actually I did'nt even know where Ampeg was built. Hmmm... Anyhow our Bass player really satisfied. It kicks boooo-taie!

What about Eden's Nemesis line of combos? I've heard a little about them, but not much. Maybe you could try one? They have a 2X10 combo ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=011121195724024004252251865825/search/g=home/detail/base_id/46557 ) Although ti doesn't list the wattage on M.F.'s site... hmm.

I've heard great things about Ashdown's, they just aren't as widely used as Ampeg. Sort of a boutique amp without the boutique price I guess.

hey, I've played ashdown, ampeg and eden and I have to say, I reckon eden have it by a long way...
Theres nothing wrong with ashdown or ampeg, in fact, friends of mine play both ashdown and ampeg and they think they're great!
I just think that the 3 parametric eqs on the eden are the most handy thing in the world, you're not tied down to where you cut or boost, cause you can move them about... plus the built in enhancer and compressor on the eden give you a lovely warm sound.
At the moment, I'm playing an eden world tour 400 with a 1x15 and a 1x10 (both with horns) and I have to say, I have no wish to change it EVER!
not too sure abotu the eden combos, as I've never seen them, but the world tour series is definitely worth a look!
any questions?

Edens sond a little "nice" to me. They are great amps, with a great sound, but I'm not sure if they are for me. I really like the Metro combo, and it is still on my maybe list, but it is really expensive!
