Find a Taylor on ebay and bid! I got a $3,500 guitar for $1,400. Mint!

Check local music stores in your area to see what's out there, and find what you like. If you can, it is always better to buy from and support a local dealer. You can try before you buy, and you can get personal service. If you have a problem after the sale, you have an actual person to go back to.

On-line, check out Elderly Music at http://www.elderly.com/
They have used and new gear. They have good prices and they are reliable.

I have bought gear both ways. I tend to shop prices at Elderly, so I can tell if my local dealer is giving me a good deal, or not.

Check out a Dean acoustic/electric. I have one, and in my opinion they are the best. If you have some money to throw around, get a $600 Dean and a Peavy Ecoustic amplifier (it is great and can do just about whatever you want). If you have any questions or want more info on this equipment, drop me a line at Wilbankbw@aol.com and I will tell you all I can. Hope you find something cool!

Peace,
Brian

I would go to a music store like Guitar Center that has a broad selection and just play everything you like regardless of price. Then, when you've found the sound you like, start looking for a guitar around the price range you're looking for that duplicates that sound. I would say that you can't really go wrong with a Martin, Taylor, or Larrivee. Taylor's have the best action, Martin's have the best tone, and Larrivee's are about in the middle but that's a big generalization. Also, Fishman Blender systems are just amazing pick-up systems even though they cut into the wood, the sound shaping is the coolest.

You really cant go wrong with a Larrivee, Martin, or Taylor.

Personally the best bang for your buck will be the Larrivee.

You can get an 02 or 03 series for about $600-$800
and they are all solid wood, excellent quality tone woods

To get anything equivalent to that you would have to
get at least a 5 series Taylor or a 16 series Martin and
you will have to pay $300-$600 more to get it.

The 16 series Martins don't sound quite as good and
I don't believe the construction is as good either.
You have to get up to the Standard series Martins before
you reach the Quality of the Larrivee's

What ever you get, If at all possible, get a guitar with
solid top & solid back & sides. The sound is better than
that of the laminate's:)

JB< I don't know where you got your info but it's not right. A Taylor 500 will cost you $2,258.00 and up. Not 300-600.

God Bless

Aaron * I said/meant 300-600 more than the Larrivee

The price you gave is full retail. There is no reason anyone should pay retail on a guitar. Mark ups on guitars are huge and there is a lot of competition out there right now. Shop around on the net & you'll find dealers giving great discounts, in many cases less than what you'd find on Ebay. Check at www.fredsmusic.com (you will have to call them because they cannot list Taylor's on there website due to Taylor dealer regulations). I'm sure you will find one in the price range I was talking about. Once you get a good price on the net go into your local dealer and see what he can do for you.

I can steer you to some more vendors if you need, just e-mail me

Peace!

My friend has an electric/acoustic Alvarez and it's really nice for only being $300.
