I just wondered how everyone first heard about Relient K?

For me it was August of 2000. My youth minister hung up a poster in our youth room that described various christian bands. It was one of those posters that said if you like the sounds of so and so then try this christian band. Under Relient K it said Blink 182 meets The Beach Boys. Everyone in my youth group always rags on me because I am a huge Beach Boys fan. ( I know I'm 18 and it is pathetic.) I was also a fan of the style of Blink 182. ( I was never really a Blink fan) So I went home that night and downloaded Hello Mcfly from Napster. After listining to it I knew that I had to buy their CD. I bought it the next day and I haven't stopped listining to it since.

One of the guys that works at my granparent's Christian book and music store played drums for a band (I'll have to ask him which one) and he said he played some shows w/ a band called relient K and I might like their music. He had an extra All Work and No Play CD so he gave it to me. It is really crappy (but it is still totally awesome) and I will be forever greatful for him for introducing me to the best Christian band ever. So I guess I have been around for quite a while. He told me they were from Ohio, but he didn't tell me they were from the area. Once I realized they were located right down the road in Canton, they were already starting to get big so I missed all the old shows

I looked in to them because they were going to be playing with Five Iron. Incidenlty, the show was last night, and it was awesome! Hometown crowd, sold out theater, and last show of the tour!

I just have to say one thing before I say how I heard of Relient K, RELIENT K ROCKS!!!!

I found out about them from hearing "Hello McFly" on a Youth Camp video for a Youth Camp that I went to, so I looked into the group more since I really liked that song and the rest is history. The sad thing is, I only have "The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek", I need to get the self-titile one.

you gotta get the self-titled one too! :) i actually like the new one better (only slightly tho 'cos they both RAWK) - the old one has more goofy songs on it, which are cool and all...but i think the writing progressed a lot, the lyrics on the new one have a deeper meaning for me overall. but they're both awesome, you should definitely pick up the self-titled one!

Well, the band tells me that they followed me around at the Alive Fest years ago before they were really a band. I guess they tried talking to me but I seemed like a jerk. Later on, I was invited to their second show ever by one of the members of another band that was playing with them. It was at a Christian coffee house and maybe 20 people were there. I went out to eat with both Matts after the show.

Just who are you????

My real name is Chris Stonier. The guys in Relient K started calling me Stones years ago and it just kinda stuck after all this time. I was the director of Basement Concerts for 5 years which is a promotions group based out of the same town (Canton, OH) that Relient K is from. I've worked with a lot of bands including P.O.D., the Supertones and MxPx. The guys felt they needed to approach me in order to get some of their first offical shows - that's why they tried talking to me at Alive. We both started our bands at the same time. I was the lead singer and bass player for a MxPx type punk band called 5 foot 4. Both our bands played together all the time for the first 2 years. My band was the only band thanked in Relient K's indepedent recording "All Work and No Play". I was also the one person who was thanked the most in their first national release. Brian "Pitts" Pittman used my Stingray bass to record all of his parts on the self-titled cd. I bought the Telecaster guitar that Matt Hoopes uses on tour (he paid me back later of course).

Currently, I manage Crosseyed88 (poorly) and race amateur motocross sponsored by P.O.D.
