my question is abou tuning a 1/2 step down. i wanted anyone who knows how to do this to try this for me and tell me if it works.
tune the low E to a low Eb on a piano and then just tune the rest of the strings to the low E that is now a Eb.
thanks in advance

Hey, joe.

Another way to do it is to tune your 6th string (low E) on the 6th fret, instead of the 5th, and tune to the 5th string (A). This will make the the E string go down a 1/2 step.

After doing that, tune the rest of the strings normally.

For me, that's easier since you can do it anywhere, even places where there isn't a piano or tuner handy.

But the eeeeasssiest way to do it is to put a capo on the first fret and tune it to standard tuning using a tuner....take the capo off and voila! You're tuned half a step down.

I've been told that doing it that way can put strain on the strings and/or guitar.

Course, I guess the only way to know for sure is to do it and see. But I think I'll stick with my way ;)
