I suggest D'Addarios. I personal don't care for Elixers. They are too overated and way too exspensive.
Just to let you know this would have got a lot more replies in the Guitar sub-forum.

I play D'Addarios on my Strat. It sounds, and plays great.

I prefer GHS Boomers. I've been using them almost exclusively since about '92.

I've used Ernie Ball Slinky strings on my electrics for years. Tried others, always keep coming back.

I have not found much difference between different brands of electric strings. The best strings IMO are new strings. I change my strings at least monthly and use Webstrings (www.webstrings.com) because they are about $3.00.

Why must you diss Strats? I'm a Godin convert myself but Fender still makes some good instruments.

I've used every brand of strings since I started playing guitar in 1984. It's mostly personal preference. Most brands of strings are of good quality. My strats have always been strung with either Fender Bullets, or D'Addario's. String gauge depends on how you play and what type of music you play. 10's are pretty versitle.
Brand new Fenders leave the factory with Fender Bullets 9's I believe.
Remember also, whenever you change string gauge, have your guitar set-up at a pro luthier or guitar store. Changing gauges will change the setup of your guitar, sometimes not in a positive way. They will usual charge anyway from $25-$75 for this. If you're in the Rhode Island area, Noll Guitars in Cranston, RI are the best. Been using them since day one.
I would try D'Addarios and if you don't like them, the way the feel, sound, then go to the Bullets. I use GHS on guitars with the EMG 81/85 pickups on some of my other guitars.
Hope this helps some!

GHS boomers .11 to .50
you might need to setup you guitar again, but the strings are a little fatter which can smoothen your tone too!
