I've so been wanting to get her last two CD's and Third Day's new CD, however, I've had to save money for Christmas shopping instead :( .......
I GOT IT TODAY!!!!!!! Mine's autographed, is it just me, or does Jen have bad handwriting??-Adam

It's unlike anything Jen's done before. This album is littered with strings and makes the sound quite different. It's not the good ol' acoustic music that we're used to with Jen. It's good, though. Her voice is better than ever and she doesn't disappoint with those amazing lyrics again. You just can't listen to it with the expectation that it will be like the previous 3 CDs and I think it will grow on you.
Adam, yes, Jen has terrible handwriting...Haha. I can compare my first CD from her that she autographed way back in '97, I think, and I can read every letter of her name. Slowly but surely, her signature has gotten worse and worse...As she's become more popular and has had to sign a million things, her signature has become so sloppy. I think it's funny :p

WOW! I couldn't disagree more with everyone's opinion of Jennifer's new CD. Her depature from her old style couldn't have hurt her more. I think the first single is horrendous...after I got my hopes up with such great songs as Into You and Undo Me, she decides to let Breathe on Me hit the airwaves...
I host a radio show and eveery semester I give a Wall of Shame award for crappiness in music...this semester is was her new song and CD. The CD is nowhere near as good musically or lyrcially as her last year.
Here's to hoping she comes back...

Whoa, buddy...you put Jen on the Wall of Shame??? That's insane!
While I agree that the previous albums were better musically, how can you say that it's not as good lyrically, too? What about "The Way I Am", "Fall Down", "Sing Mary Sing"? These songs are amazing!!! I hate a few of the songs on the CD because I can't stand the music...Ricky Martin meets Brittney Spears comes to mind when I hear them. However, she's still kicking some serious butt lyrically. She tried something new...Experimented with a new sound...We need to give her the artistic freedom to do that.
I think putting "Breathe on Me" as the first single was a mistake, but to each their own. Someone obviously thought it was a great radio song and that's why it got put out first. I would have said the title track or "Fall Down" would have been a much better choice. That doesn't mean I would stick her on the Wall of Shame, though...That's just dumb!

Lyrically, I agree. They're great. However, lyrics are only half of it...
Musically - blech. Kansas is one of the best CDs ever made, and Lay It Down was quite good, but this new one is horrible. They produced and produced and over-produced the new album until you can't even tell what it is.
On the other hand, the new songs aren't too bad when you hear them in person, because then it's just Jen and her guitar (which rocks!).
If you've got money spend on a new CD, get Third Day's new one (Come Together) or try out something else. Skip this one...
IHL,
Mickey

As I say...it is my opinion. It is my radio show...most of my friends disagree with my musical views (like I think the Insyderz are horrible). Jen could've done such a better CD, but she chose not to...my opinion...whether or not you agree is cool.

You're totally free to have your opinion, as we all are...I just found it pretty sad that you put her on the Wall of Shame. People were probably listening to your radio show and now won't check out the CD for themselves because you gave it such a horrible review. I'm not saying that we shouldn't state our opinion but I just hope that they will give it a chance and look past the cheesy music that can be found in a few songs...Most of it is still great.
You said she chose not to do a better CD but you have to understand that she thinks this CD is awesome...She chose to produce the CD this way and she thinks it's a good thing.
And I agree, the Insyderz are horrible :)

personally, I kinda liked "Breathe On Me"... I didn't think it was AWESOME, but I liked it. I can't listen to the samples cause the sound on my computer got messed up... :( but hey, Christmas is just a week away

yeah her old stuff is better... but I'm enjoying the new stuff too. everyone likes to experiment with different kinds of music, and I think her new cd just reflects her personality- everyone changes in life and it's cool to kinda see that through her music. ya know? I dunno, I don't make sense all the time. ;)

I got the album for Christmas and "Breate on Me" immediatly became one of my favorite songs. And about the whole Britney Spears/Ricky Martin thing, I can't quite see what you're saying. But it is definitly different from her other two albums, and I can see where you guys were dissappointed...but she's still like my hero.

yeah I don't get the britney spears thing either. *LOL* I definitely like her older stuff better, but she's still great!
If i was her I'd probably try different things too. I would want to experiment and try new things. People would probably get sick of the same style time after time thinking 'geez! I wonder if she can even do anything else.' (though the way she is, I dunno that I'd ever get sick of her) But yeah, we gotta give her some freedom to experiment here.
Btw, I'm speaking as a bystander. I haven't heard the new CD except for one or two at a friends house.

yeah and you gotta remember that when they are touring, they are singing those same songs every single night for months, not to mention practice time and stuff... it has got to be tiring
Yeah, I didn't even think about that...Uugghh. I mean, yeah, sounds fun, but, like you said, tiring.

me too!
this is getting weirder & weirder!
Whoa, cool it twins! :D
Okay, Jen's albums... I don't think her first two are as similar as you say, it's more like a progression. Lay It Down is kinda in between Kansas and The Way I Am, y'know?

I just purchased "The Way I am" by Jennifer Knapp. Not bad, but to me its a continous song. I can't really tell a song apart from another. What does everyone else think??

as far as jen's stuff...i have mixed oppinions about the new album. lyrically, Kansas is definitely the best. i love her "wordiness" and the "depth" of her theology and just the general "format" of the songs on Kansas. i like the acoustic folk rock sound of it. Lay it Down was good, although i thought it was not produced as well as Kansas. but like i said, i have mixed feelings about the new one. i really like the way she's doing something completely different than what other people have done. i think that's really cool. but i don't like what she's doing lyrically. not very wordy. which is stupid (in my oppinion, but of course, i love words, so there ya go!). and while i think it's cool what she's doing, i really liked the acoustic folk stuff better. so there's my 2 cents!

i like her new album....."brethe on me'' is a awesome song
It's so consistantly good that it all kinda blends together in my mind and it's hard to listen only to specific songs.
