Is anybody else from Canton or NE Ohio??? I know that locker57 is, but I can't think of anyone else that is that posts here. I live in Uniontown (a small little suburb of Akron- which is often paired together; i.e. Akron-Canton Airport, Canton-Akron Indians [old minor league team]) and I am about 10-15 right down the road (litteraly, I make a right out of my allotment and stay on that road until I have to turn left to get to their chuch) from rK's church where they recently played a show. Has anyone seen them in public before they started touring? I saw them at the Festival Con Dios in Canton. Anybody have any stories of old? My friend's band from school used to open for rK all the time and keeps in close contact w/ the boys. Todd (my friend) said that they used to play at Camp Carl and they used to have "K-Dancers". He didnt really specify what they were all about. But he is a great source of knowledge for the rK of old. If anyone has any important questions they just need to know ask me then I will ask Todd. His manager is the first manager of rK and they even recorded their demo in the same basement rK recorded "All Work and No Play" at in Canton.

No Todd plays in Crosseyed88. He is the lead guitarist and lead vocalist. They are recording in his words "our last independent record". They have a demo out. I am pretty sure he said something about them getting offered numerous deals from T&N but Todd wont have any of Brandon's (T&N exec) crap "contracts". Todd didnt play drums on AWNP. I think he said something about rK firing their recent manager, too (which means they went through two managers that I know of). He always brings in his latest tracks to choir (we are in what most schools call "ensemble" together-our school's is called Spartanaires; basically the 10 best guy and 10 best girl singers in the school that sing and dance). His music is good-a lot different from the demo but still great.
Anyway my AIM is JesuselCristo (spanish for Jesus The Christ-inside joke w/ some of my friends). I am sure you will see me sometime there, I will probably be helping set up sound or something. I am trying to convince my parents to letting me bring along my new Tele (its supposed to be a Christmas gift), but if not I will be stuck w/ my crappy Ibanez (yuck). I will introduce you to some other kids in our worship team, they are some cool punk kids. I don't know if you have heard of Proved Genuine, but thats a kid in our worship team's punk and praise band- they play a lot of shows around town.

I live about 45 minutes from Canton, 20 minutes north of Akron. I've seen Relient K many times. The first time i saw them was at some kid's birthday party at a park in Stow. There were about 20-30 kids there, and I talked to them after they were done playing...that was the first time I met them. That was in the spring of '99. I met Dave before he was in Relient K (i never did meet the original drummer Todd, though). Dave's sister worked at the grocery store with me about 4 years ago. I *think* I saw Dave's old band Linus' BLanket play once...although I'm having trouble remembering. I know I had a Linus' Blanket patch, but i threw it out. I did see his OTHER old band, though, the Kelly Kapowskis.
I saw RK at many Club U shows, or at church shows around Cleveland/Akron/Canton. I don't really go to their shows any more (though i *did* go to the homecoming show, and to one last spring) because they are so big. I don't like big crowds. I still think they're a good band, though.
I see the guys around at Cleveland shows sometimes. I saw all of them but Dave at the Jimmy Eat World show...and I saw both Matts at the Saves the Day/Dashboard Confessional show. I wouldn't be surprised if they were at the Juliana Theory show next Tuesday, since they're home from tour and all. But who knows. I just can't wait to see TJT...and then weezer and jimmy on saturday. :) Man, i love my city!

yeah i live in canton..I go to school with john (locker57). It was weird....we met online in a relient k club and then a few months later, there was this new kid in my class. Then me and John kept talking online and then I put a picture of me in the club. The next day, the new kid in my class comes up to me and is all "DUDE..are you brandon?" (or something like that) So yeah, me and john were online friends and in the same class and didnt even know it for a few weeks. So that's kinda funny.. I remember the old shows of relient k and in the days of when they made all work and no play... good times! I have a friend who is friends with todd frescone's family. I'm not sure what else to say...i've seen rk around town at chili's, berean, tinseltown (looked over during the movie and saw thiessen sitting like right across the aisle), the mall, my parents used to be really good friends with hoopes's parents (went to college and taught together)...but yeah i guess that's it. It's awesome to see all that God is doing through them. see ya,
~brandon

you're lucky you got to see them so early in their path to fame. I wish I could have. I'm a huge fan of a local band called "Strange Occurance" here and they've been working for over five years to try and make it in the Christian music industry. They just got signed under a brand new label and their music is really amazing. I've seen them from their very beginning stages of life and I'm wondering if history is repeating itself and once they are huge Christian stars everyone's going to be going nuts over them too? Does it kinda bother you that people didn't notice relientK before they were huge and now they act like they're the biggest, most loyal fans in the world not that relientK is huge? I think the biggest fans are the ones who were there in the beginning-- the ones who saw the whole thing start and liked what they heard, not just what they saw. The true fans are you guys, the guys who were there. You're the awesomest!

yeah, I would agree.

..I'm really sorry. You're right about the whole "living near Canton" thing.. Those people do have an advantage. I guess I was just trying to pay those people a compliment.

Haha...let me clarify one more time, that even though I was really involved with the roots of Relient K, I was never once considered their manager.
The basement that you keep referring to belongs to Mark Townsend, Relient K's producer and dc Talk's lead guitarist.
The K Car Dancers were a group of Relient K's friends that used to dance on stage behind the band during the first year or so.
I do think it's kinda interesting that a couple thousand people showed up at the pre-Thanksgiving Relient K homecoming concert in the band's hometown, but you were lucky to see 100 people at their show's in Canton 3 years ago.
