This may not have to do with Scripture but do you think that it's okay to listen to secular music that could be a little iffy?

Well i choose not to listen to secular anymore..because it brings back those familiar feelings and emotions to me and i don't enjoy feeling that way any more. But i'll tell ya what i think..if the Holy Spirit convicts you for listening to it than maybe you shouldn't
Do you listen to secular radio or just CD's...take a hip-hop station for example: A great deal of the songs are about partying and sex right?...but say every once in a while there is a song that really doesn't say anything immoral... does that make the radio station good or bad? i think if u have some secular CD's that are clean then great....but if ur listening to radio stations, most of them play immoral music that glorifies sex, drug-use, partying, etc. So even if they have a few good songs it's still wrong because they support and represent a lot of trashy music....Does this make any sense to ya?
I think it's not only permissable, but beneficial.

YOW! Is that poll correct? I wish to comment but not to vote..I hope that's ok.
The more I get to know God, the less I want to praise this world and take part in its ways. The more I will know what is "iffy" or questionable, the less I want to do it.
I do think that it's important to grasp the meaning of the culture, music too...but I want to become a change agent in it, not be changed by it in me.
I performed secular music (still do) for many years in many different bands, in may different cities, including death metal and gospel, so I know first hand many of the "what's and why's" that people are doing...what and why they are doing. But I don't want to compromise for any level of cool.
But for me to be Christian, I find it is not part time deal and it requires all my heart, soul, mind and strength to be transformed by God's Spirit. My allegience is to God alone.
I think this question is one of maturity in Christ and not one I can honestly poll on.
This may seem a little (a lot) out of the blue after so much time,(I haven't checked this in about a year) but I read your reply and a few others....boy there are some scholarly people on here. Thank you for the encouragement.
I have found that the Holy Spirit does let me know when it's cool and when it's not to listen to that type of music. It actually makes it way easier....just follow Him.
