Their lyrics are sort of confusing and I don't exactly understand the context of some of them. "I don't believe in miracles"? That one confused me cause he just repeats it over and over. Sorta caught me off guard...

I love He Is Legend. They are very skilled artists, and Schuylar's voice is awesome! We just saw them play live on the "You bring the bling, we'll bring the blood" tour. I have to say, they brought more sweat than blood, for which I am grateful. If you ever get a chance to see them live, GO! It's quite a show. And be sure to say hello to them. They are super nice, humble guys.
As for their lyrics, well, don't think too hard on them. vocalist Schuylar Croom is a pretty random guy, so take them for poetry. He probably has a meaning for each song, but you might be better off not spending too much time trying to figure it out. Just enjoy it. According to Croom, “’I Am Hollywood’ just mainly harps on the creepy side of the city that is acclaimed for making your dreams come true.”
And just to help clarify some of their lyrics, they do not consider themselves a "Christian band" but rather Christians in a band. So there isn't going to be much of Jesus to look for in their songs. (I consider that unfortunate, but that's me.)
Here is an excerpt from an interview they did with a newspaper in their native state of North Carolina. I'd give you the link, but I can't find it again. (Sorry.)
Now that the band is signed to the noticeably spiritual Tooth and Nail/Solid State label, the question that has loomed since the beginning is even more pressing. Is the gritty He Is Legend a Christian band?
"I have an answer to that," Mr. Croom says. "I've practiced. We are not a Christian band. However, some of us, as it turns out, are Christians."
While Mr. Croom says there is little place for Christianity in He Is Legend's music, he doesn't deny a time when he used to preach on stage, nor does he discredit God altogether. "I do thank God because I do think He had a hand in what we're doing, but I don't think it is our job to preach," he says. "Not that there is anything wrong with bands who do that."
"I don't see why it matters anyway," Mr. Bache says. "Schuylar is still going to sing about monsters and being dudes, so why do people care?"
They both maintain that they are just dirty rock 'n' rollers who are grateful for what they are doing. "We are just 100 percent crucial dudes," Mr. Croom insists, "We love the music we make and it isn't about finding what part of our show glorifies God."

By the way, if you could please go to www.TVULive.com and vote for their most awesome video, the band would be most appreciative. Just click here to vote (http://www.tvulive.com/tmw.htm).
If you'd like to see the video, click here. (http://www.acquastrada.com/hil.html) It's really cool, with puppets and stuff. It's sort of a Romeo and Juliet story, only instead of them killing themselves at the end, he saves her from the monster. :giverose:
Thanks for your vote!

Yeah in there songs they sing both sides often like in I am Hollywood and The Seduction. They probably didn't mean it in a bad way.

He is Legend is an epic band. I can't stop listening to The Seduction. I don't really consider them a Christian band, but a safe band. I'm not much of a dancing guy, but The Seduction is the ONLY song that constantly makes me want to dance non-stop. And the video is super. My favorite parts are when they have the moster puppet sing the growling parts, especially when he sings with the band and he eats the mic in the end. Very funny video.

yeah I love their "I Am Hollywood" album. The whole thing is pretty freakin' sweet.
Did U guys know that they have a new single out on iTunes? It's called "Wounded". It's verses are like soft and then the choruses turn into like sludge metal. It's sweet. It was like just released this year or somethin'. I don't know when, but you guys should check it out.

I LOVE these guy's music! Especially the vocals and the lead guitar.
I do wish they were a more "Christian" band, though. I'm one of those people who likes a lot of straight forward content in songs.

About that song "Wounded". It was originally written by Third Eye Blind, but He Is Legend edited it and re-did it. Check it out at Purevolume or iTunes.

has anyone heard their original split album with classic case? I like it, but way diff than the new stuff, the new stuff is amazing
i saw them in concert a while ago, i hadn't even heard of them before that.
i had no idea what to expect, but seeing they were the opening band, i had a feeling they'd be some screamo sucky band.
i was standing in the mosh, waiting, the drummer casually walked on stage, sat behind his drums and started banging around.
Suddenly a spooky chord blew through the air, at a very high volume, the rest of the guys came running onto the stage, and WHAM they started playing! I WAS FREAKEN AMAZED! They are definetly one of the best bands i've heard, i love them! The crowd loved them, the second the opening strums rang in, the mosh was just as crazy as it was for underoath pretty much, it was awesome.
AWESOME to see live, you should see them if you can.
The singer was walking around after they played, so i got a picture with him, it was an awesome time, the best concert i've ever been to.

Yes, they are awesome live! I don't like their new album as much as I Am Hollywood, though. I miss the jazziness of it and the more melodic sound.
The Black Unicorn EP is interesting. I grew up (in the 70's) singing "Fancy" so I was kinda shocked to hear HiL do it. But it's cool. I like it.
