I think you're closer than most. Only play it in F instead of E and I think you've mixed up the guitar with the base in the chorus, so say chorus = that awesome intro instead.

it sounds more like the recording when theres a capo on the 1st fret. awesome tab!

ya, its good, I figured it out last night, and I thought I'd see if it was in concordance with what was online. one thing though, it does the intro first with distortion, but with very little gain. they play that 4 times, then they pump up the gain, and another gutar dubs over the rhythm with:

^ ^ ^ ^
g:-7-8-5-7-3-5-5-

those ^ mean accented notes, ie you play them harder. I think that is what it was, I'm in college now and I don't have my guitar with me, so it could be up a fret or two. also, first chord's F5 I think. otherwise good!
