Under the Grace Written by Phil Keaggy From the album Phil Keaggy Transcribed by Maury Millican (MillicanM@aol.com) Notes: The dominant instrument on the recorded track is piano, but I have a strong sense that Phil wrote “Under the Grace” on guitar. Anyway, the song changes keys after the bridge. If you are an expert guitarist, you can find your way through all the unusual chords (e.g., F#/A#). Others may want to use a spring-clamp capo on the second fret (Capo 2) after the bridge going into the last chorus. What a great song about God’s grace! Enjoy.—Maury [Intro] A F#m C#m E La, la, la (repeat) [Verse 1] A F#m C#m E I lie awake in the middle of the night again A F#m C#m E I try to make some sense of it all rushing in A F#m There's so much I feel within this heart of mine Bm F#m E/G# D/A I well up inside and my eyes they overflow A E A F#m C#m E For I know it is grace [Verse 2] A F#m C#m E The look of love in the shape of your face I have known A F#m C#m E It speaks of this deep sacrifice you have shown A F#m And the wonder of it all is I didn't deserve this B F#m I couldn't have planned it so right E/G# D/A A E And so my eyes they overflow D/A A E Let it rain, let it pour, let it go D/A A E For I know this, yes I know F#m E/G# D It is grace [Chorus] A C#m F#m D E And the hungering heart seeks for its place and a home A And it may tear you apart C#m F#m D Bm When you see what this grace here has done F#m E/G# D/A A E D/A Fly, fly all you burdens go fly away A E D/A It's here I remain A E A Under the grace, the grace [Bridge] F Am G D/F# G7 It seems there is so little time to make amends here C Am D A/C# B F# If not for you, well, then I'm without a friend here **(Capo option here) [Chorus 2 without capo] Oh, oh, oh G#mi F#/A# E B D#m G#m E F# And the hungering heart seeks for its place and a home B It may tear you apart D#m G#m E C#m When you see what this grace here has done G#m F#/A# E/B B F# E/B Fly, fly all you burdens go fly away B F# E/B It's here I remain B F# G#m F#/A# E Under the grace, the grace B G#m D#m F# I lie wake in the middle of the night again B Again Copyright 1998 Word Music
