CH:
     Gm Bb F Gm
fin: You are my Hiding place, O Lord

NOTES:
1) I had a problem guessing some of the chords, so I used different
positions for the same chord. F = 1F = 2F but the different positions
sound a bit different...

2) Gm = 1Gm but the different position is easier to play as part of the
chord changes here.

3) Most of the picking is very simple - to sound similar to JMT - just
use bass runs.

The chords:

    Bb Cm Dm7 Eb F 1F 2F Gm 1Gm
E-|--6---3---5---6--1---8---5---3---10-
B-|--6---4---6---8--1--10---6---3---11-
G-|--7---5---5---8--2--10---5---3---12-
D-|--8---5---7---8--3--10---7---5---12-
A-|--8---3---5---6--3---8---x---5---10-
E-|--6---3---5---6--1---8---x---3---10-

The chords shown in this chord sheet are wrong. JMT actually doesn’t use many bar chords. Instead, he tunes the entire guitar down 2 steps (not just the E string) and moves up to the higher strings to get the notes (see below). I find it much easier to play his music his way and of course its easy then to get his picking patterns and exact harmonies when he plucks multiple strings. It almost falls into place for you. The notes are just right at your finger tips most of the time.

you will find the exact base runs are almost automatic when using the D tuning (entire guitar) and no bar chords. For Hiding Place his base runs become so easy using very simple chords!

Actual Bb F Gm
Play C G Am
D-|------------0------------1--------------0---------0----
A-|------------1------------0--------------1---------1----
F-|---------0-------------0--------------2---2-----2---2-- REPEAT
C-|----------------------------------------------2--------
G-|--0h2-3------------------------0h2-0-------------------
D-|----------------0h2-3----------------------------------

For a "D Tuning" (all strings lowered two steps) the following chords should be substituted through out the piece.

True Chord: Bb-Cm--Dm7--Eb--F--Gm
For D Tuned: C--Dm--Em7--F---G--Am

It drives me crazy that almost everything he published shows the true chords and not the chords to finger using the D tuned guitar. It misleads everyone. The least he could do is show the chords to use with D tuning along with the true chords like most CAPO music is published. Folks can’t figure out how he gets such a full sounding D. It’s because he is playing an E on a D tuned guitar! Oh well, at least now you know. I hope it helps. Happy picking!
