Title: The More I Believe
Artist: Proclaimers
Album Hit the Highway
Copyright Information: Unknown
Tabbed By: Josh Gardner (cuinheaven@alloymail.com)
This is a great song from a great Irish band that doesn't get enough
publicity. These guys are mostly secular, but have done a couple of
Christian songs. You may have heard their work on the theme for the
motion picture "Benny and Joon"
The More I Believe -- Proclaimers:
(Basically E, A, B thru the whole thang)
Verse 1-
E A
The life that I've been living
B E
from the day I first drew breath
E A
Has been my way of forgettin'
B E
I'm on the journey to my death
(same chords thru whole thing...)
You make my soul rise up,
and You make my eyes to see,
when I place my faith in You,
and I lose my belief in me.
Chorus-
The less I believe in me,
The more I believe in Thee (repeat)
Verse 2-
I don't believe in beads or crystals
Instant karma or mother earth.
I don't believe that what I think
makes any difference to what I'm worth.
I don't believe in reincarnation,
I'm not coming back as a flower.
I don't bow my heads to kings or preists
cause I believe in Your higher power
Repeat Chorus
Bridge-
A E
Well You've given me a plan
A E
That I don't understand.
A E
Cause I've wandered over half the world
B E
Yet I've remained an ignorant man.
Bridge 2-
A E
One thing that I know,
A E
Is when the final bell tolls,
A A
human love won't be enough,
B
good deeds can't save my soul.
Verse 3-
Well I'm not afraid of dying,
but I am afraid of You,
because You hear me when I'm lying,
and you see the things I do.
So the hands go round the clock,
as the life goes from the room.
And I can't help thinking to myself,
I'm gonna find out much too soon.
Well that's pretty much it. I'm not quite sure how they end it, but if
