"Choose to be True"
by Mike Knott (Broken Song, 1986)
(From The Lifesavers’ album A Kiss of Life)
From: "Chris Winikka"

E A-A E A-A

                A-A
On the day that I met you, you came to hold my hand
        E A--A E
You said you’d never leave me, but I did not understand

(riff 1) A E

E A-A E A-A
In the morning when I call you, you greet me with a smile

You hold me like forever, no it’s not just for awhile

        (riff 1) A E
        Oh-oh-oh-----------------You choose to be true
A-A B A (mute strings)
       And if I walk awaaaaaaaaay,
(no guitar) E
I want you to follow me

(Instrumental solo)

You tell me that you love me. How I want to love you too
If I do you wrong by Sunday, you’ve forgotten it by Monday
        You choose to be true
        And if I walk away,
I want you to follow me, to follow me, to follow me

Notes on playing the song. I’m assuming you have the recording.
It’s really easy, just figure out riff 1, and that is the basis
for any deviation from the regular chords, even for the "solo."
If you don’t have the recording, shame on you. This was way
ahead of it’s time (for Christian music). Excuse me for my
digression, but Mike Knott has the best alternative voice ever.
During the hey-day of the 80’s while most Christian bands were
playing either top-40, or Muzak sounding songs with their Casios,
a few, and I mean a few bands like the Lifesavers, DA (remember
"Doppleganger") and the Altar Boys were doing alternative. This
is, mind you, when the word alternative had meaning. But I
digress. I’ll get off my soap-box. Check out "See Me Fall,"
what a worship song.
