Shadow of Angels
Building 429

Tuning: C# standard (C# F# B E G# C#)
You'll need heavy guage strings for this tuning, or else it'll be
         floppy sounding.
Electric guitars seem to be in normal E-standard tuning.

Add some nice stereo delay and/or stereo reverb to the acoustic guitar, but
not too much.

First, in C# tuning (the acoustic guitar).

INTRO:
   F#m9
   C#m7 - C#m7 B(add4) - B(add4) E5/G# - E5/G# A(add9) - A(add9)
   C#m7 - C#m7 B(add4) - B(add4) E5/G# - E5/G# F#m9

VERSES:
     (there's a hammer-on from a low E to the F# on "sunset beach.")
   F#m9 C#m7 - C#m7 B(add4) - B(add4)
   E5/G# - E5/G# A(add9) - A(add9) C#m7 - C#m7 B(add4) - B(add4)
   E5/G# - E5/G# F#m9 C#m7 - C#m7 B(add4) - B(add4)
   E5/G# - E5/G# A(add9) - A(add9) C#m7 - C#m7 B(add4) - B(add4)
   F#m9 E5/G# A(add9) B(add4)

CHORUS:
   E E/G# - A(add9) B(add4) - C#m7 E/G# - A
   E/G# A(add9) B(add4) - C#m7 B4 F#m9 A

   E E/G# - A2 B4 - C#m7 E/G# - A

INSTRUMENTAL:
   A2-A  A  A   |  A2-A  A  A  |  E/G#   ||  A2-A  A  A  |  A2-A  A  A|
     (do a hammer on from the 2nd (B) to a 3rd (C#) of the A chord)
Repeat 3 times, then repeat 1st part up to the "||".
   Then it does this:
   C#m7 B(add4)/Eb E5 B4 F#m9

TURN-AROUND:
   E B(add4)/Eb E/G# F#m9

ENDING:
   E E/G# - A2 B4 - C#m7 E/G# - Amaj7

CHORDS USED:
  E - 022100
  E5 - 079900
E5/G# - 422400 or on the verses you can try x66400. It's not an E,
but it kinda sounds good anyway.
  F#m9 - 244200 or x44200
  A - x02220
  A2 - x02200
  A(add9) - x07600 or 577600 or x02420
  Amaj7 - x02224 or x07654 or x02120 (not recommended)
  B4 - x24400
  B(add4) - 799800 or x24440
  B(add4)/Eb - x69700 or x64440
  C#m7 - x46600 or 9x9900 or 9-11-11-9-0-0 or x-11-11-9-0-0

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original Key:
(I'm not going to get technical with chord names in this key since only the
acoustic guitar was doing fancy chords.)

INTRO:
   Ebm7
   Bbm - Bbm Ab - Ab C#/F - C#/F F# - F#
   Bbm - Bbm Ab - Ab C#/F - C#/F Ebm7

VERSES:
   Ebm7 Bbm - Bbm Ab - Ab
   C#/F - C#/F F# - F# Bbm - Bbm Ab - Ab
   C#/F - C#/F Ebm7 Bbm - Bbm Ab - Ab
   C#/F - C#/F F# - F# Bbm - Bbm Ab - Ab
   Ebm7 C#/F F# Ab

CHORUS:
   C# C#/F - F# Ab - Bbm C#/F - F#
   C#/F F# Ab - Bbm Ab Ebm7 F#

   C# C#/F - F# Ab - Bbm C#/F - F#

INSTRUMENTAL:

Repeat 3 times, then repeat 1st part up to the "||".
   Then it does this:
   Bbm Ab/C C# Ab4 Ebm7

TURN-AROUND:
   C# Ab/C C#/F Ebm7

GuitarOfGold - 2005-03-25

That chord I called an F#m9 is actually called F#m7sus. I wasn't paying attention to my music theory when I typed it.

GuitarOfGold - 2005-03-25

Also, I forgot to mention that near the end of the verse where it goes from F#m7sus to E/G#, the low F# note slides to the G#.

Awesome Tab!!!

apgb04 - 2005-07-21

Hey awesome tab but your kinda wrong about the original key on the Cd itself
has the key of B major Not Bb major so all of the original chords you wrote are a tad of.

Just a hint from one musician to another

God Bless you and your talent

hey, building 429 just came to our town, so i went to get tha auto graph thing and all and the main singer told me about this tuning he uses on about all his songs, he said it's way easier. it's called DADGAD. u dont hafta get the stonger strings for the tuning cause he tuned my acustic to it and played shadow of angels. but i just commented to tell u bout tha tuning to see if u knew about it. God bless

Jesusrocker34 - 2006-05-16

hey vidoman, thats prtty cool. do you play the chords the same way? if you dont how do you play them?
Thanks, Jesusrocker34

GuitarOfGold - 2006-06-18

Yeah, they use that tuning on almost all of their songs (I think). I'm not big on alternate tunings when I play, so I didn't really even think of putting that in.

It's also possible (for the original key) that when I tuned my guitar back up, I didn't tune it up far enough, thus giving me the wrong chords for standard tuning. It's been forever since I played it, but whatever.

wrcstudministry - 2006-09-12

hey guys i dont know how to chart this out, but i got a new "cut-capo" (inspired by shane&shane) well it's a capo that has only the A,D,and G string played and E,B,and high E are all open, so it forms an eisier way to play the chords. if you want more information you can email me about it and i'll try to explain it better wrcstudentministry@yahoo.com
